Terribly good at physics, but fails terribly at understanding theological notions.

God is above materials, causality, knowledge, relations, dynamics, and powers. Apostle Paul says it well in Romans: nothing in the whole of creation is above the purview of God, the God who cares for all, with all of Himself.

I pray everyone has a great day.

God has unity in perspective. It happens all at once.
Each pixel is not a separate thing but a unity all together God views all things.
Hovers over the waters. God views all.

Imaginary friends are limited only by the limits of your imagination.

Then there's the problem of evil, more specifically pedophiles in the church, is god incapable or unwilling to intervene or simply ignorant of the issue?

That's the thing about imaginary friends, they can be all powerful in your imagination but they can't do shit in the real world.

First of all... ew.

Second, I've been neck deep in Christian theology, and you're right. It can pose quite the intellectual challenge. The doublethink and delicate balance of cognitive dissonance required is exhausting and stretches thin the brightest mind. I can smell your desperation from here.

Atheism certainly is the lazier option for those with a penchant for pondering. You don't have to fuss nearly so much to make sense of things. So while most Christians are simply path of least resistance or status maintaining types, I do that recognize that some put forth herculean effort in their devotion. It may be fruitless waste, but I can respect it after a fashion. This thread though... is rather lazy and self-absorbed. Expecting an article to do all the heavy lifting for you? Are you not even praying? I would have been ashamed to put forth such a paltry effort on a matter as dire as the hearts and souls of men. Have you truly looked inward onestep? You don't look like a humble instrument of the Will of God to me. I see no faith. If you were as devout as you pretend, you wouldn't use God to serve your ego. God would use you.

I think he is referring to really dogmatic atheists who refuse to even agree to disagree. I have been one of them and being like that causes you spew for the sake of winning an argument.

No, he's just arrogant. He uses his beliefs to cavalierly uplift himself in his mind over others. An arrogant Christian is a thing that should not exist by their own doctrine, yet somehow it seems to be most of them. Their faith is a joke.

I don't think Jesus was imaginary. Who was the Jew that was crucified in 61 AD, proclaiming that he is God?
If Jesus is God and God impregnated Mary does that make him a motherfucker?

Also interesting that Mary mother of Jesus has the same name as Mary Magdalene who some sources say was the wife of Jesus, I suppose it was a common name.

jesus is just a scammer and false prophet, we all know the bible is half mythology and bullshit.

nothingness and the void is the closest thing to God.

Physics still cant explain how nothingness become everything and stuff, and how entropy was higher in the beginning of the universe.

Their faith is a joke.

I think of it as, we all feel what we have faith in.
Even as an intellectual notion faith is a qualia.
Faith as a qualia comes in different flavors.
And also in different intensities/strengths.

I have a weak faith in Jesus because even though I believe he is alive he does not affect me in my life. mostly I do no believe in the conspiracy theory of end-time events. If no end-time events happen then Jesus can't rule the earth. Jesus would need to combine or fight the coming global super A.I. - Religion, as we know, just does not make sense in an A.I. future. What am I supposed to believe? What prophecy am I supposed to turn to? Like I said I have a weak faith, Jesus is alive but he is a deistic God. He does not interfere or talks to me. I cannot do anything about this but try and seek Truth.

Come back when you've read the article, because it's pretty obvious you're arguing something which you've projected.

If you have something to add after looking over the article, I look forward to you sharing your thoughts.

I dunno why you engage in these topics when everything you write is in bad faith. I think the entire forum knows about your immediate family's encounter with some pseduo-Christianity and its subsequent impressions on you.

Either way you've constantly have shown an inability to understand theism throughout the years here so there isn't much for me to go on.

Hope your technological endeavors are going well!

You know, we got to stop with the atheist v. theistic crap.

@onesteptwostep why don't you give some context? Nobody knows what you are trying to say so it will good if you provide some more info on why you said that

@everybody if atheists were able to change theists' opinions, then this debate would be different right? Bashing him will cause him to be more defensive

Take a chill pill. Maybe Jesus was an atheist with superpowers. Who the fuck cares?

God would use you.

Giving my will to God, given my mental illness and strange beliefs has been a trial. I have been profoundly hurt by others and terrified by abstract concepts. But my heart has treasures from pulling through that can never be taken. Supernatural things continue to happen to me. It is how I live now as a supernatural existence. I just let it happen, do what it tells me to, and know what is right or wrong.

I believe in trusting your feelings. That it moves through you. We have built up negative affect that stops us from perceiving things correctly. How can we listen when we feel bad? I was inundated with stress over what was right to do. So I was in fear and was resisting it. And when this happens trembling occurs. I pushed past it each time.

To be a vessel is to have the spirit flow through you. Once you learn to resist evil spirits you can work on eliminating inner weaknesses. Deep wounds of the past.

It's usually useful to read the article the OP has posted. I mean, if you're too lazy to read it, why even post in the topic in the first place? I guess talking about God triggers people too much. What an age to live in.

It's not the article itself but rather that you're scoring points for anti-intellectualism by pointing out how this so called "smart person" failed to grasp that god's abilities are outside the scope of physics, a fact that the writer himself acknowledges in his article which indicates that he's only conflating science and fiction for the sake of shit-stirring.

The thing is we all agree that god's abilities are outside the scope of physics, in my case not because god is just that powerful but rather because its fiction and fiction isn't within the scope of scientific inquiry because by definition fiction isn't real.

How hot is a lightsaber? How does the force work?
These are obviously stupid questions because it's all made up by the author and that's the only answer you'll ever find, whatever the author makes up.

Granted there probably was a real Jesus but that doesn't prove that any of the mythology is real, it's not like people can't embellish historical events by say writing a book about them well after their occurrence.

Nobody cares what the article says because it's just clearly just click-bait designed to shit-stir people into having debates, exactly like this thread, for the purpose of getting more people to follow the link.

I didn't read the article because the OP didn't engage with it. OP is asking readers to do work they themselves have not done.

Repeating a conclusion everyone is aware of does not a compelling discussion make.

Not at all would I say God is powerful in a physical way but rather God affects reality through consciousness. Consciousness is above physics yet not fiction. Consciousness is the only way we make contact with God. God is disembodied yet sits above reality like we do in qualia. God is a unity like us but simply bigger. God spans the entire universe.

The way of contact is to listen deep within. They are there inside you.
