Why should anyone think that MTBI results are good for much of anything besides seeing what four letters you get? The world is greyscale, not black and white.

I don't know what it's all about, but it seems like there's a lot of emphasis placed on type.... but we are individuals.

MBTI can be grayscale, if you look at the interplay among all the sliders and examine broad motivations and priorities within a type.

But people seem really adept at black-and-whiting it.
Which is their fault.

The model allows for many motivations and experiences within each type. Your type is supposed to reflect your conscious decision-making and information-gathering within your ego, and then tells you the other four functions are relegated to your unconscious, which still influences you, but you don't integrate it within your ego. We all carry almost all of the common archetypes within our genes.

I see.

I was confused by questions of general nature about a specific type and it wasn't clear to me why an INTP would have a specific way to deal with a bossy person, for example. An implicit assumption that I mistakenly made here was thinking that in the questions of 'why does INTP do...' there was some implication that an INTP would have a unique response, as would the other types. With a large sample number it's probably true that each type will have more people giving a certain response which is different than those of other types, but in a forum with a small number of responders I wasn't sure how much sense such questions make to ask.

But, but, but I'm not dissing the type of question. Just need to try to straighten out a few things.

if you're looking to spur controversy i believe this is a failure. it's kinda agreed upon here that the tests available are inadequate, at best an initial pointer.

also, the letters allow greyscale. but good on you for mustering up the most blatant, boring and misguided typology criticisms :D [blunt] [punk ass mother fucker] [yeah cool]

sorry :(

yes, obviously i dont understand why people seem to think its so important. hence the initial post. its a four letter answer to a test that might not really mean much of anything, but it seemed kind of cultish. i wanted to know why.

and no, brontosaurie, im not trying to stir up trouble. if you'd understood my comments correctly you would have seen that obviously i understand the grey scale. my question was whether many posters in this forum do.

read next time. :(

typology is a speculative psychoanalytical theory. the tests are considered largely irrelevant in the typology subculture, because they suck, because people can't answer truthfully and the questions are not asked in cunning enough ways and it's a way too complex phenomenon for the current self-assessment psychometric methodology (perhaps for that paradigm at large) and it's more of a perspective than a pursuit of definitive classifications anyway. at least in my view.

it would have helped if you'd written them correctly

i did. this very clearly means greyscale.

An implicit assumption that I mistakenly made here was thinking that in the questions of 'why does INTP do...' there was some implication that an INTP would have a unique response, as would the other types. anyway, sorry that i stepped on your toes.
