This past summer, I was swimming in a pool and noticed something interesting about the pattern of light on the floor of the pool.

To me, it seems like the pattern closely resembles photos of galactic filaments. I found this interesting and it's been stuck in my head every since, I keep trying to think of a connection for the two.

Could the structure of galactic filaments have something in common with wave interference?

Perhaps, but to me the galactic structure is more reminiscent of a foam

A network of filaments is more preferable in terms of energy required, than a perfectly even density. An expanding universe controlled by gravity between galaxies would behave in the same way as an expanding foam controlled by the forces between molecules

Foam .... that's an interesting theory. I'll definitely read about foam physics over the weekend. Thanks.
