This is one of the best WWII "sims" out there, they have taken the arcady Unreal tournament engine and used it to make one of the most detailed mods out there.
The tanks each have the specific armor they had in real life, while the guns have the same penetration while also being affected by real life physics. Rounds which do not penetrate bounce off, which really only applies to German tanks.
The game really revolves around Germans blitzing the Allies while the Allies ambush the Germans. That kind of gameplay is obviously not realistic, but it does give you a chance to get a feeling for tanks and to test yourself against others. A lot of the game revolves around finding better uses of the poor equipment, or our proving your prowess in the German vehicles.
The community is extremely open minded and has great debates. The details are often so impressive that they are mind blowing. I have changed my views of every aspect of the war thanks to the forums. 99% of everything we "know" turned out the be wrong. It really is a place to learn and share. Its quite interesting.
The community is large enough to keep servers populated 24/7, and the infantry servers of the 29th revolve around a real military discipline where all 29th players must perform the duties assigned. It leads to quite an experience.
