Don't be repelled by the name.
I think it's a play of words on the term "tear jerk".

Crywank is James Clayton trying as hard as he can to do some folk-punk influenced acoustic music with no previous experience playing guitar. His first album “James is going to die soon” was written after a painful break up. Crywank states that “I wrote these songs out of frustration and sadness and they ended up making me feel a lot better, I hope they have a similar effect on you”.

(This was the official description when it was still a solo project.)

Crywank are a Manchester based anti-folk band. They mostly write sad songs and have been told they are the worst named band in the country.

(This is the current description.)

I know I cry when I wank. Mostly because I wank with sandpaper. I like to combine the sin and the penance all in one nasty little act. Saves time.
That's ok for me, if it's ok for you.
What about the music though?

you diss vennu mallesh and listen to this shit?

I know, it's a condition that i have - it's called good taste. :p

But Vennu Mallesh's deep and refined poetry,
his mastery of teh computer musics,
(oh i forgot... other people actually PRODUCED the atrocity accompanying his "vocals")
his delicate use of autotunery make him a close match.
Here's my favourite line:
"I am very Anger / I know it's very Danger"
We will carve this into stone some day in the not too distant future.

On a serious note:
Where did you get this stuff?
Is this one of those viral videos?
Are you into S/M?
Oh, and Dr. Alban just called, he wants his lyrics back!

vennu mallesh has something to say. granted it's simple "i'm strange as fuck, deal with it". he does it bold.

this guy Crywank just stacks big words and big emotions and rushed heartfelt crooning into a big awkward pile that amounts to nothing.

[optional "it takes one to know one" disclaimer]

Vennu Mallesh should then become a politician or life coach or helpline operator.
The person executing the profession is called MUSICIAN for a reason.
The key components in the ARTS is TALENT and an understanding of AESTHETICS.
He only has to sing on top of a computer generated clusterf..riendship,
but this is done so half-as..d that not even the lyrics make any sense.
Was it too much for someone who calls music "his life" to open the dictionary and CRAFT / REFINE the lyrics to a degree that they actually deserve to be called so?

Don't get me wrong: i like Daniel Johnston, but he actually brings something to the table.

your dude can't play or sing either, u srs m8? besides, technical proficiency is a poor measure of artistic significance and no, some base level of it isn't a prerequisite either.

I'm not your m8, bro.

Have you read over the introduction?
For a person not formally trained on the instrument, he's quite good.
Ask any guitar player.
Concerning the voice:
Are you tone deaf?
He hits the right notes.
And for the life footage:
there's that little thing called stage fright.
Makes your voice tremble.
Ask any singer.

didn't say anything about "right notes".

what's the appeal of art if it's just following a blueprint or set of rules?

your "any" people don't matter. what matters is creativity, honesty, expression.

Read over what i typed earlier:

Do you get the idea?

What's the point of painting on a canvas?
Couldn't you just paint on toilet paper?

"creativity, honesty, expression"
Where is that in your viral video guy?

yeah, i agree about daniel johnston.

what corresponds to the toiletpaper in your analogy? is it the clusterfriendship, the autotune or even vennu mallesh himself?

it's in the way he eases through and nails it. it's in the way the way his lyrics assemble and juxtapose various modes and degrees of metonymic complexity suggests an aesthetic underpinning so universally emotional that it transcends all cultural barriers. such is the splendour of great vennu mallesh and his exuberant celebration.

the medium as part of convention.
reinventing the wheel is not always necessary.

ok, got it. you get some divine experience out of it,
i get ear cancer.

I think it is time to end our discussion at this point,
you have derailed this thread for too long already.

most accurate - and for this very reason indeed, vennu malesh has chosen to incorporate a wide array of existing styles, delighting us with familiarity as well as preposterous ingenuity.

(i'm outta here)

Had to google Vennu Malesh.

What has been seen...(heard?)

He's objectively shit. Not in my opinion - he is actually terrible.

To be honest, I'll never understand how people can enjoy music like this =/
