I recently made a new acquaintance. We talked a bit about mbti and he said the test pegs him as an ENFP, but he doesn't see himself as an extrovert, so he thinks he's an INFP. From what I know of him and my own interactions, at first he came off as an extrovert, but later it became clear he is an introvert, so I agree with him that the test typed him wrong. Recently we talked about arguments, opinions and how people just accept whatever they hear as truth. I found out he likes to pick apart somebody's arguments just for fun, even if he agrees with that person. That was such an INTP thing to say! I don't know him too well, so I can't tell if he is or isn't a Thinker rather than Feeler. How would I go about finding it out?
I also think the test typed him as F because of his moral values. He is very religious and cares about people, but I think it is more because of his values and the way he grew up rather than F/T.

IDK many INTPs who consider themselves religious. Its kinda the antithesis of INTPs as a generality. INTJ's can be religious, but I would say INTPs are prolly one of the least likely types to be religious. From your description of the guy, like I said, he sounds more INTJ than INTP. INTJs can have strong moral values, but that whole picking apart peoples arguments for fun sounds more like an INTJ thing. INTJs like to watch people squirm more, INTPs just don't care.

Wouldn't be too outrageous for this to be an xNFP thing, either. It's mostly an Ne feature, I would say (ie. exploring other avenues for shits and giggles). It depends what kind of lens he looks at those arguments through.
