Hi, I'm an Italian med student in my final years of med school so I'm trying to see what specialty to choose. I don't know if I will like this career path, in fact I entered med school without giving it too much thought tbh, but even other career options don't excite me that much. All this to say that, having to choose a specialty, I'm trying to pick the one that I think I would hate the least: enter surgery. Other specialty that I find somewhat interesting are psychiatry and radiology (the problem with rads is that I'm afraid it will get to repetitive, you only read scan and, also, I doubt that once you know your stuff it becomes just pattern recognition).

I would expecially apriciate the opinions of people who are in it (doctors/residents/med students, etc.).

No, but...

The best way to figure it out, is to actually go into a top quality hospital and visit the doctors or labs that are in the fields you might be interested in. Ask the different types questions like, what is your least favorite aspect of your job, what do you like the most about it, can you show me what its like working and what physical areas you are in, etc. I mean go out in the field and really get to know the doctors and students and nurses chosing those fields to see what they say. You can learn a lot about what you don't like that way.

i dont have the patience and GPA effort to study that much to get a degree.

any mistake you make as a surgeon could lead to being sued, seems too ISTJ.

but a forsenic corpse examiner is more suitable for me, since i dont have to answer for my mistakes and study dissect the human body completely.

Are you reffering to Psych when you say “not as exciting or as a great fit”? What’s working/living as a Doctor in switzerland (i was thinkering with the idea of going there)? If i’m being honest there isn’t a job in medicine that’s particularly appealing to me (but i feel that way for jobs in general, so…): rads seems interesting (but more so for the fact that it will give me more free time on personal projects, not related to medicine), and then there is surgery (particularly Vascular surgery). The problem with surgery is the lifestyle; knowing myself, i need to have multiple streams of interests at once (i don’t see myself only doing one thing, but who knows, maybe if i find something really interesting that will change idk).
