I know that I'm an IXXP but after that I'm lost.
I'm not into sports nor mechanics hence I can't see myself as an ISTP even though I tested twice as ISTP.
I'm not artistic, I don't value aesthetics, I even shriek at human emotions even though I do a great job at hiding it. So I doubt that I'm an ISFP, but I identify with ISFP's hate of confrontation and criticism.
I enjoy debates; I'll even start ones in my head to amuse myself. I'm detached and unemotional. I'm bad with my hands. I'm a PROCRASTINATOR.
I'm very analytical, I love science, I'm smart (IQ=135), I'm in grad school and aspire to be a researcher and a professor. I'm not bragging, I'm trying to tell you why I identify with INTPs.
So what do you think, am I an intp???

You get a strong definite firm solid maybe from me. Feel free to act as you will on this judgment.:D Be sure to consult with others as you and I don't know if I can be trusted. Then take the average, the mean and throw everything away (pay attention to extreme judgements though as they could mean something) and then decide by your intuition if that is your strong suit.

I'd pin some love of the arts with an INTP, although it doesn't have to ring true to each and all.
How's your living/work area? Messy/organized?
We're known for having full fledged debates in our heads... just don't try to figure out who won once you're done, and don't tell people about that either.. they tend to cock their head and look at you and your thoughts strangely.
Procrastinator!!!! *one of us!* Although your drive to do something in life makes you a more inspiring INTP, something inside you is driving you forward, so hold onto that and let it take you where ever you go.
Regarding IQ, you've probably read this then: IQ tests are created around the four attributes, introvertedness, intuition, thinking and perceiving.
I.Q. tests measure abstract reasoning skill (Intuition), the ability to solve problems alone and silently within your head (Introversion), the ability to think objectively about non-people oriented problems (Thinking), and flexibility in solving never-before-seen problems (Perceiving)

Looks like you've done some tests, here are two favorites of mine:
http://www.25quiz.com
http://www.discordia-inc.co.uk/misc/mbtitest.html

You sound like you should fit the mold, although one thing that might define you further, are you sometimes/usually caught with your head in the clouds, thoughts drifting away, thinking about some obscure aspect, and with a drive to deluge deeper and deeper into all encompassing aspects of whatever thought it may be?

Or do your thoughts think of whatever aspect it might be, form a conclusion, and then stop, satisfied with the conclusion.

The more you take MBTI tests the more skewed I feel the results will be, remember to take them answering as honestly as possible, and also as impulsive as possible, try not to dwell on the question, you might get caught up answering towards a side that you might want to be and something you're not, creating just a looping thought process with flawed results.

Well, thanks, maybe.:)
It seems to me indecisiveness is an INTP trait (i have that too), but followed by a witty logical remark makes it truly INTPish.

I'm the definition of messy in everything; disc, room and lab. I'm driving my lab partner crazy.

I tend to get distracted with my own thoughts even in the middle of conversations with others. I don't decide on something I'm thinking of and move on, thinking of one subject ends by moving to another. So after half an hour of thinking I end up in some other unrelated issue, I like to play a game where I track my thoughts backward to find out how I ended up there.

I did the 25quiz, my result was 37% ISTP, 30% INTP. I don't know why I keep testing as ISTP even though I don't identify with most of their traits.

p.s. I was more interested in analyzing your way of thinking and responding than in what you had to say about me.

No problem, I have plenty of it to share until I find a quality job :]

Messy, check.

Do you often look away, even while in the middle of a conversation with someone, I always catch myself doing this, it's a bad habit, but it's me.

Sometimes I find it rather hard to backtrack my thought process, usually it's not just one link to another, but its been an idea, then idea², then [idea²]², then [[idea²]²]², you get the point... the jump between ideas and thoughts expand on an ever increasing exponential scale..

anyways.. to stay on topic, please take the other test linked, as I find it to be very helpful as well, also share your analytic thoughts on my post :D

It's the test questions:

"Would you prefer eating your favorite ice cream or would you rather think about it"?

That's why you score ISTP. Welcome to this Forum.

Has anybody else seen varying test results??

My first time was INTJ.

Then INTP.

Then ISTP.

Then INTP.

Then INTP.

Then INTP.

I just did those two tests that were suggested in the above post.

34% INTP
22% ESTP
18% ISTP
9% ISTJ
7% INTJ

Introversion (I): 11 versus Extroversion (E): 2 Sensing (S): 8 versus Intuition (N): 13 Thinking (T): 11 versus Feeling (F): 10 Judging (J): 8 versus Perceiving (P): 7

So the first one came back INTP and the second one INTJ what gives?

what are your main functions. do you talk to people and get a lot of energy and tons of ideas or do you usually observe systems and break them down in your head or do you not use critical thinking skills?

I'd say if anything I'm a hybrid INTP/ISTP with a little INTJ.

Does that sound conceited? Or does it sound like I don't really get the concepts?

Mostly INTP, after reading the literature I identify strongest with this type.

I am most reliably introverted and thinking. Everything else is sorta wishy washy. 50/50

I also score in the 94th percentile for both primary and secondary psychopathy (Levenson self-report). So there ya go.... online tests right? Avg. 31/35 PCL-R:smiley_emoticons_mr

Good luck job hunting Nick :)

I get your point about our thoughts growing exponentially but this is what makes backtracking them fun.

It's funny how I thought that my little habit of looking away during conversations was something unique about me, well I guess not.:D

I took the other test and again I got ISTP, I guess it's because I like to think of myself as practical and realistic. I may not be sure that I'm an INTP but I'm sure I'm not an ISTP.

I agree. But me analyzing every little possibility out of each question and then second guessing my answer didn't help either.

My first time was INTJ.

Then INTP.

Then ISTP.

Then INTP.

Then INTP.

Then INTP.

If I take any test my result tends to be

70% of the time INTP

25% of the time INFP

3% of the time INFJ

2% other random type

I do not trust the tests, really, except as a tool for someone who has no knowledge of the system at all yet, and then just to get a basic idea of how they see themselves.

The conclusion I have come to is that if I am not an INTP then most likely an INFJ with a high threshold and need for clarity and logical reasoning.

I think I am INTP, but my Ne is off the chart and I have a low Ti, which makes me come off (an seem to myself) as much more emotional than most INTP's.

I can relate to that. I kept going back and forth between ISFP and INTP, my main concern was me being perceived as emotional by others, although I know I'm not at all. I think being females we develop our Fe more than our male counterparts, since we feel it's expected of us socially.
