I believe it can either be :
A) They do not realise they are making people unhappy
or
B) They are amused by peoples reactions

immature INTP's do that. a few years ago i would do that, i'm not gonna lie to you.

but honestly the immaturity thing is probably... well, global, among types. especially T-types without much empathy.

2ndly, I took one of personality test for first time and i got INFP , but i score INTP in most of the other test. but how could it be?

The "Test" is not testing anything solid, just your own preferred style at the time of the test, so there is some variance each time you state your preferences when taking a different version of the test.. I am labeled as a P instead of J just because I answered 54% of the questions in a 'P-like" manner, but that means I am still 46% J...

BTW - we have a a thread going about websites of interest for ADD/ADHD...

Reasons To Flame:

People are Stupid
Social Revenge
Hating People in General
Because Argument is Fun
Want Reactions (to see "what people would say", like to experiment)
Accidental flamed because put something the wrong way or too bluntly.
Misunderstandings
Irrational irritating Boredom
Misplaced Emotional Vent

Seems more like an ENTP thing than an INTP thing. Though I do sometimes have that Ne inpulse to think "hey, I wonder how people would react if I said something fucked up like this?" I don't normally do it though because I know that pissed-off people are less likely to get whatever point I was trying to make anyway. And plus I sort of respect people, I guess. ;)

Still, objectively speaking, being rude/disrespectful can make for an interesting experiment on how others react to your behavior. I imagine this is, among other things, a driving force behind most trolling. That doesn't make it "okay", but it can make it interesting.

Ok I have done this on occasion, and I've known damn well that it pissed people off. I did it to get a reaction, to test people, to push their limits. Not sure if it's an INTP thing or not, but I like studying people's extreme reactions. It is a lot more revealing than observing their typical attitudes, because most people have been taught to be polite in general company.

Nah I'd say ENTPs would be more argumentative, but INTPs would be ultimately more annoyed by stupidity and flawed logic, thus the flaming.

Exactly! i think flaming other people is just an art too. its the ability to respond. I just love when these fool people critizising at me and i will fight back trying to win. I feel like im a lawyer in the court and the principles of it , LAWYERS ALWAYS WIN! haha.

At times, INTP can be ENTP when they are behind the monitor screen when they are alone at home, using a PC as their own thought. But in reality, when they are close with people, they can be very quiet.

Yes, thank you great sage of information everyone on this forum already knows.

Well I generally don't anyway, although I suppose maybe I do now and again in small magnitudes, usually in "defence".

I guess I'm just uncomfortable with disharmony, and also, I've built up a reputation on the Internet which I don't wish to spoil (although I can't really remember flaming much even at the start of my foruming journey).

However, having said all this, I suppose I condone flaming in "defence", provided that the magnitude of the "defence" flame(s) aren't greater than the initiating flames, and that they are also mixed in with some argument. ;)

And if I ever wish to "experiment" on people's reactions towards things, well, there are plenty of revelations to be made! Plenty of true stuff to freak people out with; no need to mindlessly flame (yet, ha). :p

But anyways, a more constructive alternative to practice one's skill at responding back to flames and counter-flames is the challenging of arguments and counterarguments in debates, but on the Internet these two activities are mingled a lot, so I guess one will do both if they want to have it all.

I flame people only when their logic is REALLY REALLY idiotic.

Although that may be tempting, it can benefit both parties if you just explain why their logic is (probably) wrong. In the process, you might actually find out that you were missing something all along, and even if you don't, you will have articulated yet another "proof" of why something is correct/incorrect. Their response to that is also valuable, as it might contain additional points too, and even if they are most probably wrong, you will have accumulated more data to see the situation from more angles, and also to disprove it more efficiently in the future.

But brushing off a stance because it appears idiotic is very INTJ. We wouldn't want that now would we? ;)

Also, some would consider that crystal logic and teaching are one of the major things INTPs can offer society. I wonder how much worth we would lose if that was role was in ample supply...

If only it were that simple... in the majority (the vast majority) of the cases people do not want not only to admit that they're (even a bit) wrong/misguided/misinformed, but they'll in all likelihood ignore your argument altogether. People are like Borg - resistance is futile :borg:, no matter how hard you try they won't even listen.

Oh....I thought this was just about READING flaming forums and people insulting each other. It was one of my favorite past times a few years ago :phear:
I wouldn't have the confidence to actually do it... I'd write a 2 page essay to back up all of my claims, when flaming wars don't usually operate on logic.

(my favorite example: 3 page flame war on how one person used the semicolon incorrectly.)

That's the best part! That kind of mentality fascinates me.

True, I see that far more often with ENTPs on the other forum... once I figured it out, I could approach it more appropriately.

True... although some "mirror" types will just push back in kind or their behavior is driven by role rather than responsibility.

The majority of INTPc is not trollish.
It's just a very different society than here, for example.
People there are often "playing" and it's not good to read too much into it.

Of note is the fact that, even among that crowd, they discern actual trolls from the rest of the userbase. There's a distinction even in that environment.

Fair point.

Flame away so! ("Fight fire with fire".)

(If you want to know what the water is for this situation, well that takes a bit of experience and skill. ;))

A lot of my posts on other forums are labeled as flames, simply for the fact that I don't just 'shut up' when something says something I disagree with (regardless of whether or not a 'debate' section exists). Most of the time, I don't make any attempt to make my post appear 'nice', but this is because I'm usually replying to someone who said something blatantly idiotic and doesn't deserve niceties.

Although, I sometimes I do flame people for annoying common grammatical errors (such as the use of 'allot' or 'alot' (the former because it checks out in spell check (yes I did just use parenthesis in parenthesis, and am now doing it again))).
