I quite frequently get asked (told) 'why are you grumpy ALL the time?' I respond 'Im not' and continue thinking about everything that needs to be thought about. It actually bugs me a lot since I havent even spoken yet and already people assume I'm grumpy and/or mean. Does anyone else have other people tell you how you're feeling? Maybe my new staring into space face could be :D...

I've been told I come over as a cynic person, giving a lot of observational critique on everything, but I've been called cute and friendly many times as well.

It all kind of depends on if I'm fond of a person or not, and/or if I'm in a good mood or not, heh.

What they're really saying is "I'm offended that you would rather be off in your own world when wonderful ME is right here for your attention". And you are being mean by not participating in social activity with them...at least, that's how they take it.

People ask me why I'm tired a lot, and that's pretty much it. Although...most of the time I am tired, so it's not like I can get offended. I just shrug and smile. Smiling puts a lot of people at ease.

:D <--- unless you're this guy. That smile says "I just murdered my spouse."

I just suffered from the appearance of being grumpy over this past week since I was on vacation with my family, and it was not voluntary. An ESTJ father and brother can wreak havoc on ones mind especially since my dad has a strong E and J. Constantly wanting to do stuff and breaking in on my deep thought thinking I am totally bored when I am actually enjoying the peaceful silence. He then proceeds to yell at me for being grumpy for replying viciously to his constant attempts to break me out of my comfortable shell. I'm grumpy because of the annoying ExxJ's in my life.

I'm only grumpy because people keep interrupting my train of thought.

Perhaps it how we can come across to some. I've probably been asked a similar question before. It doesn't bother me.

I can say that right now, I'm not happy, but considering I've been looking for my dream position for over two years now, I think it's understandable. The economy doesn't help.

I get told how I look from time to time. "you look angry" or once "you look depressed" (?). I invariably have no other response to that than say: "Ah", and then nod.

I don't usually snap at people or anything and am pleasant with just about everyone unless they give me a good reason to not be. I guess the exception to this if is someone isn't understanding what I'm saying whether I'm trying to teach them or explain an idea, I will usually get impatient very quickly and come across as angry. Interrupting my train of thought would not qualify which seems to be a big one for most of you guys. Hm, am I the only one who doesn't get angry when someone interrupts my train of thought?

Ive been told I'm cynical a lot although I disregard that as realistic as most cynics probably do.

Grumpiness (or the appearance thereof) can be masked. Just inhale helium before you speak. The high comical voice can cover over a world of sin. Heck you could probably read Sylvia Plath's poetry and people would laugh.

I used to have a signature file attached to my business e-mails with Sartre's quote from No Exit: "Hell is other people."

It was eventually pointed out to me that it might not be the wisest move for someone with a career in human resources.

In hindsight, they should probably have pointed out that a career in human resources might not be the wisest move for an INTP.

People keep trying to interpret my facial expression when I'm thinking and they come up with some random and usually false emotion. Most of the time this is "grumpiness" just because I don't normally smile or yak my brains out.

I'll often act grumpy just because other people get so annoyed with it. It can be really funny. I also get really grumpy if I'm interrupted whilst reading. Other times if I'm lost in thought, I've been told I look like killing someone...which could be synonymous for grumpy...I think.

Apparently I look murderess when I'm deep in thought. Works in my favor though, most people leave me alone then. :D
