Hi, I'm Aaron.

I just learned I'm an INTP and I got to admit I was a little blown away by how much this test knew about me. Several times I just had to stop reading and say, "Wow, my family doesn't even know [this or that] about me."

So I just wanted to say Hi and I am very much looking forward to reading what's on all your minds.

(I'm kind of a shy poster, so I'll definitely do much more reading then I will posting.)

We're all shy posters to some degree. Well, maybe not all but around here you can say whatever you want. As long as it makes sense ;) j/k (if that were a qualifier I'd have been run off long ago)

Have fun and welcome.

hi and welcome. IB is right - we're all shy and we're all somehow drawn into posting ... and there's lots of other new people here at the moment so it's a good time to be new.

Thanks for the welcome, and I figure you are all pretty much like myself so I'll probably feel at home sooner or later :)

Shy....

I like that word so much. I like the name Berkeley too.

But... but.... what's with the "What it is homie" crap!? *screams*

Mother English! Hide me from the modern atrocities!

err... you're very welcome here by the way.

Welcome to the mind screw orgy that is our forum, may you reach catharsis repeatedly like a virgin at the altar, you may be uncomfortable at first, but there's nothing to be afraid of... except maybe those people who say "there's nothing to be afraid of", they scare the crap out of me.

Lol!

As for the 'what it is homie' I just had to say it. I grew up in a fairly decent neighborhood, but right next door is east la, and my best friend is from the infamous inglewood. So I definitely use some of his mannerisms sometimes. "What it do baby boo" was in a close second for the title of this thread haha.

And the people that say "there's nothing to be afraid of" are always lying! And the virgin analogy is really pretty creepy ;)

Weird. I never understood the "What it is" phrase. A bunch of my coworkers who are really old say it (like 50+). It's like common to them... any idea where it originated?

Also, welcome!

Quick google search explains it :P Was too lazy to do it before, haha.

70's expression... so for 50-60 year olds, it was like their teens / 20's phrase!

Yes, it's stange. my mind has a strange time processing the word "it" in front of "is".

Anyways, welcome

Six stories up.
I think it was used in "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre" .. or maybe it was "what's up".. :P All I know is it caught me off guard because I thought it was a newer mannerism.

A chaste young woman getting married for the first time, what's creepy about that?

...are you more accustomed to pagan/satanic altars? :D

lol, ya, lets just say your analogy didn't bring up pictures of marriage in my mind at first glance.

And thanks Miss Led :)

As for the 'what it is' phrase, I'm glad so many people find it fascinating haha.

A conversation between my and my black friends can easily sound something like this:

Me: What it is fool?
Friend: Nuthin cuz, just chillen, where you is?
Me: At the pad, but i'm bout to come kick it wit you.
Friend: You got dat fire? Let's get this shit goin (weed reference)

It's really funny because I have like three best friends, one of which is black. Well that's not funny, but the funny part is that I can completely change how I talk in between different sets of people. I read that INTP's are good at 'mirroring' the mood or feel of the people around them, maybe that's why I have no trouble switching how I talk.
