Post watches you own and watches you wish you could afford.

I just bought one of these:

I love interesting watches.

I've owned this one for quite some time now.
Great service, never broke down, exquisite fingers.

I have no need for those infernal wrist stranglers since the day I realized the meticulous keeping of time makes life more boring.

It is much more interesting to be late or early than exactly on time.

Well said.

While I agree with you in spirit, I have things in my day that I do need to be on time for.

Lol, no more than likely there's the smallest, cheapest, shittiest watch inside the casing, as I said I bought this thing in thailand, you don't buy these things for what's inside, you buy it because it's a convincing looking forgery of something far more expensive than what the shady guy on the street is selling it for.

It's a paperweight as far as I'm concerned.

It's worth more than a paperweight if it's a convincing forgery. You can buy mechanical watches pretty cheap so I wouldn't rule it out.

I had a watch a long time ago that looked somewhat like this (but cheaper):

Steampunk watches are kinda cool:

But I don't use watches anymore, once I got my cellphone... I always have it on me. I just use that. It's probably one of the larger disappointments of cell phones, I think it's probably eaten into the watch industry and made them less necessary. However, watches not only served a practical function but could also function as jewelry + as a form of art in themselves... function + style.

I guess a wind-up, though, might be good if you absolutely need to have something that does not depend on a battery.

^ Yeah I agree with you about cellphones. Watches are functional jewellery, the fact that they have a useful function is a great excuse to wear something nice without looking like a ponce.

The watch on my phone is the only one I want.(I really don't care for jewellery and the function is already fulfilled elsewhere). I imagine if I needed a watch I would pick a simple one that I wouldn't notice pressing against my wrist or apple watch since it has most functions(not that I want one).

When the economy isn't so shitty I have plans to open a watch manufacture one day, but I do have to say I do like Romain Gauthier.

I can't wear leather straps, though. :slashnew:
