Hello there!

I was recently reading some theories about the stress and affect of stress on the personality. It started with the article, that it is irrelevant to do tests when somebody tries to apply to job, because the person might get so stressful about fact if you will accept them or if they have the right attributes/properties to work, that they might get changed personality...

Then, I have found some other article, that, somehow, explained it. It was something like "The person might get so stressful that they will get switched they 1st and 2nd function with the last two. It might be caused by the fact, that you are unable to solve problem with your 1st and 2nd function." (So for example if INTP would be in that stressful situation, in which would his functions have no point to use, he would switch to last two: Se and Fi)

Then (in that same article) the author mentioned other theory about that same topic, but that 1st and 2nd function will switch to 5th and 6th.

Soo... what is your opnion on these thoughts? Are 5th and 6th functions more powerful than 7th and 8th? Have you experienced something like this?

P.S.: I have experienced this change, but it was different. It was... the transformation of my personality. It is in the spoiler and possibly have no relation to this article, so read only if you want to.
I was like other kids, yeah, ISTP with some dreams... one of them was reaally desiring... to create PC game. Well, then it formed in way, that it would be reaally booriing to learn programming, and in fact everybody will now want to learn programming, so I wouldn't be so unique. Then I came to the idea of... of plan. "Wait, wait, wait! What all those programmers will make games about?" :D And so I have started to make plans of this game...
Then, I have went in these plannings to one theme: Moral. Moral of the story. I have started my thirst for morals (and other information), which have transformed my percieving function. I was not watching the things as they are seen by anybody. I have started to watch under their surface, for their reason. INTP :P
Aand then I have made research for making characters, found out about MBTI, studied it for one quater of year and registred on this forum :D

So... maybe it was so stressful to me to find original moral, that I have started to search for morals everywhere even in my daily life. This is just some kind of alternative topic, so you don't need to discuss this really. But if you want to... feel free! :D

I can't say that I've "changed my personality" But that's because I can't really say that I've ever really been stressed. I don't get stressed. But I do worry a lot if it's something that I want to succeed. We just had exams these past 2 weeks. The whole year I've had a lot of absence, about 38%. And when we hit the exams I went a little "Okay, get it together, it's now or never" Note the "little" because I did what I was supposed to do, but nothing more. I didn't even make notes to take into the actual examination. Nor did I read what was given to us the day before the written exams. I read them on the day, simply because I couldn't be bothered.

So as for me, it depends on how you look at it. Some people might says that I did at least do what I was supposed to, compared to the rest of the year. While some might say that I was just as careless as the rest of the year since I didn't really bring notes or read up.

Also, I don't look at it as "changing personality" If you suddenly, when applying to a job or hitting the exams you put on your "game face". That's part of your personality. Your personality puts on it's "game face" when it gets down to it. You don't "change" your personality.

Your English is fine, you didn't mislead me. I know what you meant; sometimes we just kind of "change" we react differently that we would normally. For example if doing a job interview we take it dead serious when at other times we don't really take things seriously.

Well, thanks then! :) I meant change as temporary change... for short period of time... :D
