Someone needs to build a good test based on the functions

So I've been thinking that there are a lot of tests online, but it would be nice if there was something less vague... Questions like "Do you prefer to work in a fast-paced environment?" don't really prove anything as far as the functions are concerned. There should be something more context-based which makes full use of the cognitive functions, I think. Ie. "When you're driving a car what do you pay attention to?" and then give at least 8 options for the user to choose rather than 2.

I think davesuperpowers (intuitivetime.com) is working on an accurate testing model but the site isn't up yet and I'm skeptical as to whether he wants to find the truth of the matter (he's INTJ, not INTP) or whether he's just trying to sell a flawed definitive version.

If anyone has any ideas regarding what I'm saying, or if anyone has any great cognitive-function-tests to offer me, then be my guest, because so far I haven't come across any which are truly thorough and....scientific? (I hope that's the word I'm looking for)

I doubt you will find anything "scientific"(though I'm not sure exactly what you mean). The only MBTI function test I know of is from keys2cognition, I don't consider it accurate or helpful at all though.

The reason being, people are now putting value in the functions and disregarding the letters, but they're still carrying over MBTI assumptions in how they view them, so instead of gaining precision or clarity, typology only becomes muddier and more confusing.

Agreed

"When you're driving a car what do you pay attention to?" and then give at least 8 options for the user to choose rather than 2.

Sure, the problem is that people often vote with what they want, not what they are. Such as picking their inferior. This is why Sensors often test as intuitive, and I tested as an INFJ once.

Oh is that what he's doing? I signed up but its quiet.

It would be an interesting thing to do but I'm way too busy with other stuff.
