Safety Question

considering terrorism and earthquakes and volcanos and... you know, all that depressing stuff. =) which place is safer to live? Southern California, San Diego area. or Northwest Washington, Seattle area? Any thoughts? Reasons?
and then, safest place to live in the world? least safe?
I'm curious.

Tough to say. There is the issue of the massive predicted earthquake that's supposed to devastate most of the Pacific edge of California and Oregon.

As long as it doesn't happen while I'm living there, I don't care too greatly.

I would think Seattle is slightly safer but San Diego is much nicer in terms of climate. Unless of course you like the weather changes in which case Seattle wins.

In terms of natural disasters, this Slate article from 2005 indicates that the Northeastern states of Conn. Mass. and R.I. are safer.
