I've been doing a lot of research in regards to the title. A lot of what i read as far as an awakened pineal gland applies to me, most of it relates to the idea of intuition more so intuition on a spiritual plane and I feel as a INTP our introverted intuition makes this easy its almost natural to us. Has anyone else researched this or know anything about it.

I'm somewhat familiar with some spirituality stuff; I have looked into Indigo Children a bit too lol don't hate.

I'm still somewhat of a skeptic when it comes to terms like "spiritual awakening" although I really want to believe in some of these spiritual concepts; I believe Carl Jung is your best bet for the most reasonable psychologist who was also delving into the spiritual realm; I'm sure Jung would have something to say about your topic;

I'm more inclined to seek scientific explanations first rather than spiritual explanations;

Have you looked into Dabrowski's theory of "Positive Disintegration"

^that theory seems to resonate a lot with me-- and also serves to synthesis (explain) some "spiritual" experiences that a lot of people go through and have no other way to explain it scientifically, so it is often credited to something spiritual or religious...

however, I do believe in shattering certain ego layers, etc.

But regarding the pineal gland and third eye... I remain skeptical although I really want to believe... I just have not found any evidence that can prove it just yet.

checkout Dr. Michael Persinger; he's got some interesting science that ties together with spirituality; whether he is legit or not is another issue... but I like him so far
here's one of many videos you can find via youtube/google/online

i don't know anything about the concepts. have some experience with altered states (obe, trance, weird dreams), but it's a vast territory of possibilities, so you have never seen it all, and it's hard to judge whether you know what someone else is talking about, when they use similar language (astral projection etc) .. quite frustrating, which is one of the reasons i don't care too much about "research"

i never took DMT but other dissociative drugs (salvia) and i had dreams, that resembled the salvia experience (as unbelievable as that may sound, if you know salvia), i'm inclined to believe that those dreams come with DMT secretion (cause DMT is formed in the pineal, if anyone has missed that fact), even if that doesn't actually "explain" anything. happens in the first 3 hours of sleep, if it happens. rather normal shit, i guess, just not something that is usually remembered.

interesting, Dr. Michael Persinger says that only some people make DMT? i thought it's normal. he is probably just talking about dosage peaks?

a psychic (most would say borderline psychotic) friend of mine has had LSD detected in her blood, when examined after admission. she didn't knowingly take LSD. but she is certainly tripping all the time.

my own daylight state is rather rock solid, i have to go into trance to evoke the aliens ...

Have you looked into Dabrowski's theory of "Positive Disintegration"

that's cute, i may annoy the folks on the HSP message board with his paragraph about sensitivity being the main aspect of developmental potential. i say annoy, cuz these wannabe sensitives are mostly poorly developed conformist ISFJ housewifes, who think that HSP is all about being annoyed by loud construction work, and who suggest that having overexcitability in the intellectual, imaginative and emotional sectors must imply mental disease, especially the air of disintegration in our lives ...

There are those who say* that fluoride concentrates in the pineal gland, which eventually destroys its function.

* On another forum** that attracts conspiracy types.

** No, I won't say which.

I've been thinking this was a super gross thread, only just now did I realize the title wasn't "Penile gland".

Well, "as an INTP" I do not believe in voodoo psychic magic.

I have had a lot of practical experience in work with the third eye, but I have not seen the modern research.

In short, Kundalini yoga teaches that the science of yoga is in part to free the spine and increase the flow of cerebrospinal fluid (thus nurishing and making more efficient the brain). Mantra and breathing techniques are used as the various consonants vibrate specific parts of the body (consonants in sanscrit carry philosophical value because of this).

I have experienced visions/waking dream states, abstract/psychedelic states, euphoric states (eyes closed, surrounded by white), "being moved by the spirit" (subconscious movement), the list goes on.

I have not used DMT, though it fascinates me.

The role of the pineal gland is somewhat shrouded in myth, because of it centralized location - many, throughout history, have supposed that it provides a major function such as the seat of consciousness or whatever. However, it is the adjacent amygdala that actually performs the most work as a major structure of the HPA axis and a pivotable fulcrum in the endocrine system of the old Mammalian brain.

IMO, spiritual awakening has a spiritual cause, not a physical one, yet I have no doubt that spiritual awakening has physical effects such as altered states of consciousness.

In reptiles it serves as a safety mechanism, no? When the reptile absorbs near dangerous levels of ultraviolet radiation the pineal gland secretes some fluid that tells it to go and get some shade!

Anyone wanna try and make some connections here?

My own studies have lead me to believe that there is something to the Pineal Gland. I do not have any insight into myself, but I do believe you are on the right track. I find Manly P Hall to helpful on subjects like this. Here is a link to what he has to say on the subject:

I think this subject is interesting, and would welcome more information on it.

@Da Blob

Has Da Blob experienced such a spiritual awakening? Altered states of consciousness perhaps?

Might the pineal gland also be what draws reptiles to the sunlight to begin with, providing a "reward" mechanism (within a given range of exposure, not too little or too much there, Goldilocks) for thermoregulation? A reward in the form of melatonin/serotonin/happy/pleasure?

Yes, at one point in time I was something of an expert on the topic of Altered States of Consciousness, doing a lot of research at the University of Chicago.

However, being who I am I just had to experience such states of consciousness myself and on one occasion dropped 9 purple microdots of LSD, I preferred Blotter though, but it was rarely available...

However, my spiritual awakening came a decade later after I ceased experimenting with drugs on my self. This experience was what is described as 'being born again' and the states of consciousness associated with it made the LSD experiences appear like childish toys in comparison.
