Dear friends,

I am involved with social/ environmental activism. My interests are : saving environment, study of mind [particularly the difference between thoughts and emotions], silence, solitude and meditation.

I had done a search on something related to "mind" which led me to a thread on this forum and I thought of joining.

I would like to post my article which examines the link betwen mind and social/ environmental issues.

Welcome Sushil, great to have you on board. My daughter has just got back from a month long trip to India on a programme called 'From Gandhi to Globalization'. She was going wild in the UK and I needed something to give her focus and food for thought. She was transformed by the experience, almost a different child. It would be great to have your thoughts on saving the environment. I don't know how you post an article but why don't you start a new thread. We seem to be a bit low on threads at the moment and you seem to have lots of ideas!

Thanks for the welcome. It is nice to know that the trip to India helped to change the personality of your child. The knowledge and wisdom of the East is being lost due to consumerism and fast lifestyle.


All local cultures are getting destroyed. Cultures used to be different as long as there were physical/ geographical and communication barriers between regions. Today we have neither of them. The East has become like West. It is the culture of consumerism everywhere. Most people are engaged in - making things, buying things and selling things.

I am an introvert. You are right about vegetarian food. Unlike some of the flesh eating animals, humans have got a choice. We can survive on vegetarian food.

(shhh, Jesin, don't scare the interesting poster away. Think how much fun we can have trying to guess his MBTI. )

Let's see, as you're aware of the loss of the sensate function, you're likely an N. And as you lament the loss, perhaps F? and see it connected to the suffering of all life, more evidence of N, while championing the value of a slower pace, F... INF?
