I've read the comics. I was slightly surprised when I saw the trailer for it recently, because usually I hear about comics being made into movies way before the trailer starts getting played, and I hadn't heard anything about Kick Ass being made into a movie. It looks like it will probably work well as a movie, I'll have to see it.

It isn't terribly good, nor terribly fun, nor terribly anything not even terribly violent, though you've probably heard otherwise from an assortment of moral scolds.

I actually thought it was hilarious enough (and sweet enough in spots) to see it twice. I wouldn't say it's "top notch" cinema, but still enjoyable. I guess it depends what you find funny. Hit Girl r0x.

The violence is more on the level of Kill Bill 1 -- so over the top and humorously done that, despite it being pretty horrendous in spots if the mood had been serious (I mean, come on -- they cook a guy in an industrial microwave, for example), it doesn't register that way.

I don't know anything about the comics, but I just saw the movie last night and I enjoyed it and thought it was funny. It wasn't exactly what I was expecting from watching the trailer, but I like it a lot anyway. It was funny, when we were leaving the theatre this girl sincerely asked while walking out the door, "Was it supposed to be a comedy?" I don't think it was what she expected either.

I'd be interested in reading the comic now, but I'm not sure if I ever will. Especially if they're expensive. Can they be found online maybe?
