I am new with this forum fyi.

Just out of curiosity, how many of you INTPs out there feel a lack of motivation for stuff like doing dishes, cleaning house, doing hmwk if you are in school, etc. You know, the things that you are "supposed" to be doing but that totally suck! When I was younger, I was like nooo...I can't do HOMEWORK because I need my "time to think" about things that actually matter! Anyone else like this or have experienced this?
Well...I need to finish up some math hmwk but I am on this forum trying to discover more about INTP stuff lol.

I can focus up and perform well with daily stuff, but it's like it requires way too much effort! I prefer "lounging" (not being lazy necessarily but sometimes that too) or "studying things that I want to learn more about"

Anyway...just want some general input I guess.

I think it's pretty common among INTPs. It helps to force yourself to do at least a little of the boring stuff, then let yourself wander off for awhile and then return to the boring stuff. Working through all the boring stuff at once is a suicide mission.

Doing boring stuff in one sitting is suicide.

Taking breaks can make the breaks indeffinite.

Practice your willpower, try to find an underlying interest in performing daily tasks. Such as clean room -> happy parents -> no nagging -> lots of alone time. This seems to work for me -- I no longer have a grudge when perfoming mundane stuff such as dishes or vaccuming. Takes less time when done alone, less stress when I choose to do it on my own conditions, and there is still plenty of undisturbed time left (and there is the bonus of a happy parent)

This is not uncommon in INTPs
This is not uncommon in Ps
This is not uncommon
This is not even that uncommon in Js

Nobody likes doing this shit, some people are better at handling it than others (I'm certainly not one of them). I'd urge you to consider just how strongly you are trying to rationalise your dislike for the completion of ultimately necessary tasks; do you really find it difficult to think about 'interesting stuff' while also doing the dishes?

Well, the focus should obviously be on how to prevent the work from needing to be done, on how to do it most efficiently, or on figuring out some other aspect of the task, rather than just accepting "I'm washing dishes" as the dominant aspect of it all.

I dread the chore of feeding my dogs. Has to be done every day, of course, three big dogs, combination of canned and dry. But by storing and arranging the food and food bowls logically, I can actually start and finish in two minutes or less. So now it's like my mind starts to say "avoid, avoid" and I can immediately realize I'm being silly trying to avoid a two-minute job involving minimal exertion.
Ditto dishes. I can empty the dishwasher each morning while I make coffee for my wife, who has to go to work early. By the time it's empty the coffee is done. Then dirty dishes go in the dishwasher all day. Last thing at night, start the dishwasher. Repeat as necessary.

Apply your INTP gifts to the processes and it all becomes at least less time consuming.

Not uncommon at all.
I procrastinate, not only with homework (which I never actually did) but with things I do enjoy.

When I want to finish a video game, I can't be bothered.
When I want to buy a computer, and I have all the money ready, I still can't be bothered going to the shop.
I've been meaning to buy one for about 3 months now.

I don't actually mind doing mundane chores/jobs around the house, but I have such a hard time focusing on homework. I think it may be because homework takes away from my mental focus by drawing it toward something that I'm ultimately not interested in, which is a fairly unfortunate thing considering I'm a 3rd year college student who's already declared a major. Whereas with mundane chores, I'm free to think about anything I please while being outwardly productive.
