Hey guys. I'm here because I've suspected for a while that I am INTP although I usually test as INFP (Is it possible to fluctuate between the two?). I read the description of an INTP on intp.org and was blown away by how accurately it described many aspects of my personality. When I found this forum and saw that many INTP's share my taste in music, I figured hanging out here would be well worth my time

Other random stuff about me...I'm a 21-yr-old female, jag kan svenska, in my last year of undergrad and planning on pursuing a master's in a "helping" profession (which is apparently quite rare for INTP's), never really cared about Morgan Freeman until he started talking about black holes on the science channel...umm that's about it. This forum is going to be an excellent way to procrastinate doing my schoolwork.

No, I don't think it is possible to fluctuate between two different types, but it is possible to fluctuate between different functions of your type.

I love melodic metal, especially with strong folk influence...Agalloch, Eluveitie, Amorphis, Green Carnation, just to name a few. Metal seems to be quite popular in the forum. I'm also really big into piano, jazz, and folk. I like music with many layers that takes more than one listen to understand.

It is not as such possible to fluctuate, but it is possible (and very common) not to completely belong to one type.

I, for one, share most people's taste in music... except if they listen to mainstream music

When I read his name, I always need a few seconds to recollect which Freeman is Morgan and which one Gordon. Good thing there aren't many other famous Freemans around.

Not necessarily. INTPs do have Fe, after all, while INFPs don't.

I think it's possible to fluctuate between types. Although fluctuating may be misleading. Since it's a preference you can compare this with bisexuality. I at least am reasonably sure that this exists, much like an INXP. Not as fluctuation, but a sexuality and type upon themselves. My point is that bisexuality is not a fluctuation but a different sexuality. This is similar to what I suspect is the case with hybrid mbti types.
