So where I live you can get legal medical weed for half the street price if you get a medical card. The dsm checklist for social anxiety disorder describes aspects of me damn near well so I want to go to a psychologist first to get legally diagnosed. I found one that lives near me so i emailed him and asked if he is qualified to evaluate me for it. He responded by saying he "has the tools to help me" and "his heart goes out to me." I don't want his treatment and I dont want to be treated like a suffering victim. Why is this? I feel as though i must be stoic and handle all my emotions internally. I want to call him and get this crap out of the way so I can attempt at this card. Any advice on how to stop being scared to go? sorry if this is in the wrong section

lmfao... I love how you're malingering to get diagnosed yet too anxious to get diagnosed. :D

Just show up and answer his questions. Drink a couple cups of coffee beforehand if you want to ensure that your body is putting off the right signs as well (caffeine triggers epinepherine release, just like social situations).

"his heart went out to you" because he didn't realize he was emailing an aloof schizoid looking for cheaper weed. It's okay, he's just a feeler. You'll survive.

enjoy the stoner music of "2 wheel nation" by acid king as you walk there. you will become light. it's a deceptive surrender fight song from the chasm of spirit.

Why don't you just go with "chronic pain" in your "lower back"? That's more likely to get you a medical card. As far as I know there isn't a state the will prescribe medical cannabis for generalized anxiety.

Although, that diagnosis can get you benzos. Just set an appointment. You just need to do it get it out of the way. Then all you have left is to show up. Don't be a sissy. It's just some strange man that has feelings about your feelings. It'll be fun. You can say what ever you want to them. They hear some crazy shit. You're not likely to make them think you're fucked up, or anything like that. Its like paying a guy to let you share your thoughts with him, and he'll listen and give you feedback. So just do it!

Some rational i used to be friends with let this card get to his head and he got it for anxiety disorders. Only reason I think it will work. They also say you need doctor paper work for them to accept you so i need something more permanent than a temporary back injury to keep getting it renewed

From what I know California is pretty laid back about it. A friend of mine went in to a doctor who was pretty much known online as a "weed doctor" and he literally said "I would like a medical marijuana card. I have insomnia and depression and anxiety" and all that and the doctor basically just said "don't we all" signed his papers and sent him on his way.

Chronic pain isn't temporary. Pain can't properly be measured. Therefore if you say you are in pain, they have to believe you are in pain. But cheesepuffs reminded me about the pot doctors. I forgot about them. And california in general.

I was going to get my card, but I get medical weed at under $10 a gram, thats delivered to my apartment. So I rather just save the $300 it costs to get the card, and wait till its legal in a few years. Probably after this voting cycle. Hopefully we do it more like colorado.

Good luck with all this.

I got my card. It wasn't a big deal. I live in Southern California.

Street price and medical price is about the same. Medical is more consistent in quality and you can choose the strain that helps the most.

I had several reasons to get it, but I went with pain. They were really friendly and professional. I've been to some shady ass places where you talk to the doctor through video chat. They proxy multiple locations to make licensing cheaper.

I felt really awkward in the waiting room. Most of them look like the typical pot head. Everyone is there for the same reason, so they can't judge. :smoker:

I can say that it has helped me a lot. It changed my life. Then I smoked too much and had to stop because it was affecting my life. I like having it be difficult to get so that I don't let it get to that point again. At the same time, it does improve the quality of my life significantly.

Good luck bro!

So do you think I'm better off just making an apointment for the card without a diagnosis?

He was a freaking therapist not a DR. I thought he had the ability to diagnose. Who do I even go to then?

Depending on where you live I'd say you should do some research on these weed doctors. It'll cost you a bit, but they're the perfect people to find since they can give you both the diagnosis and the prescription and all in a very short visit.
