I never realized how important grades are to me till today. Today my school called and said i failed my AP euro class and that im not able to take AP US history. I usually do the bare minimum to pass (usually with a D or C) but toward the end of the year i began to take the fact that i could successsfuly do this for granted and i guess i didnt reach the "bare minimum" I strive for. I usually think i dont place great importance on grades but when they said i failed the class this was the first time my emotions have been swayed in a very long time almost to the point of self loathing. my number one concern is my future, this will be a major blow to my GPA i never failed a class in my life my GPA was a 2.8 no telling what it is now. My plans were to go to college for civil engineering and go into the USAF with it. I dont even know if this in possible considering the fact that im entering my junior year and performance has been horrible. i can honestly say that i hate myself for this. i dont know what to do with myself now like im having some major scramble brain right now. is there anyone who has been successful despite of poor performance in school ,high school specifically, and in fields such as engineering? and does anyone know anything i can do to better my situation, for lack of a better word because i honestly dont know what to think anymore

Being overly emotional can be a problem for INTPs; try not to get pulled under by the waves.

Really? Your #1 concern was your future and at the same time you weren't taking this into consideration? I'm suspicious.

You can fix this.
i can honestly say that i hate myself for this.
Self-hate doesn't do much good. Give yourself some time for this to pass, you need to be in a different mode to solve problems.
i dont know what to do with myself now like im having some major scramble brain right now.
Again, give yourself some time.

There've been thousands--don't sweat it.
and does anyone know anything i can do to better my situation, for lack of a better word because i honestly dont know what to think anymore
Get serious about your education. Aim for carrying a 4.0 from here on out.

Colleges appreciate improvement. If you get good grades junior year by trying to the best of your ability instead of aiming for the bare minimum, you can fix your situation. Community College for a year (if you don't think you can get accepted into any of the schools you want) to show improved grades and worth ethic is an option as well.
There have been plenty of cases where people failed high school and became extremely successful. However, you can't be successful if you don't actually try your best. You say that you "strive" for the bare minimum. Why are you so shocked about your grades and the future that you're currently heading for, then? Do you think that you can get and advance in a good job with that kind of mindset and resolution? No. Success doesn't saunter into your hands, especially in this economy.
There's hope, but only if you change yourself, and those changes will have to be serious ones.
As Vrecknidj said, get serious.

Try to turn it around. You see the problem, and you see how to fix it. It's just a matter of doing it. Get some other people involved if you need to.

Usually an INTP can slog a way out of a thicket by just not thinking about the immensity of the thicket, but the shortness of the next step. That's going to be aces for your next classes; reducing it farther, it's abandoning the "bare minimum" approach on each and every assignment and replacing it with "everything possible to get an A." If that further slices down to spending one more hour each day with school work: Big deal?

As V said, you haven't ruined your life, you just learned something important soon enough to incorporate the lesson in what you do next.
