Adds keep popping up when I watch youtube. I ran windows defender and I reset chrome settings but it is still happening. I don't want to download anything to get rid of it. Is there anything I can do?

edit: I think it came from a fake minecraft game download. people I know had their kids over and they keep bugging me about the game.

A brief search online suggests it's pretty resilient. I would recommend scanning+repairing that drive from another computer that's not infected. If you don't have another computer, then you can install Windows to another hard drive. If you can't do that either then partition your current drive and install Windows to the extra space(20-35GB required). Of course you could also just backup and reformat.

Hello. Sounds like some adware might have come with that fake Minecraft download. You can try removing any suspicious browser extensions or programs manually, but if the ads keep popping up, I’d recommend checking out GridinSoft. Their Anti-Malware tool is great for cleaning up these kinds of issues. Hope this helps!
