Having this problem sleeping lately. Not entirely sure why. Relying on my intuition, it's because of multiple things:

• Stress
• Body Chemistry
• Body Clock
• Lack of vitamins
• Lack of nutrition
• Lack of exercise
• Many more diddly dingeys

(I haven't been the first to notice that less sleep increases stress, and increased stress can reduce sleep, which creates a cycle.)

It's really annoying because I am unable to calm myself down at times, creating the cycle.

Does anyone know the / a solution? I'd be glad to hear your advice.

Do you have to wake up early for a job or something? In which case go to bed earlier

Do you wake up and can't fall back asleep? In which case take naps.

Thank you for your reply; great tips you've got there!
I don't have anything early in the morning, other than school, which begins at 08:55.
The main issue is that I'm having issues going to sleep in general. One night, I went to bed at 21:30 (9:30) and couldn't sleep until around 00:00 (12:00). Again the problem is sleeping in general

Regulate what time you get up is the best way to get to be able to sleep at the right time (this only works if you go to sleep when you are tired). If that doesn't work, get some medication to help you sleep. You can try different non-medication remedies for sleep before you start taking medication if you wish.

O.K.—Thank you. However it's still often difficult to sleep despite being tired. I many need to look into medications and such.

You can try taking a supplement of valerian root, put some lavender incense on your chest and take a hot shower (or bath) before you go to bed before trying medication. Medication is your best bet though. You can try over the counter sleep aids before you get a prescription as well. Tons of places carry over the counter sleep aids. I recommend going to like a Walgreens or CVS or something like that if you live in the states.

Good to know. I'll take that into account. Thanks for the info.

What is the ambient temperature of your room? Do you sleep with a fan or AC?

EyeSeeCold wassup bro! Good to see a familiar face...

OT: I sleep way better than I used to, probably cos I don't overthink so much nowadays.

I have some hypnogogic hallucinations sometimes though, but they're not too bad.

Melatonin helps a little. It's not a complete cure, like ambien or lorazapam, would probably be, although you would need to keep taking them. You also addressed several of the reasons why you're having issues. Get a multivitamin, go for a walk in the evening to get some exorcise, and find the source of your stress and try to deal with it.

I've been having issues with sleep recently, too. I lost my job, but the job I replaced it with sucks ass. So I'm stressed out. I'm more suffering from intestinal issues, than sleep ones, though. I've been applying for jobs and going for hikes. My stress isn't totally dealt with, but it's not as bad as when I first lost my job. That being said... I should go fill out some more applications.

Why are you so stressed, and can you find something to do that can distract you from it long enough to relax yourself? I'm told mindfulness meditation helps with stress.

Hi Artsu, it's nice to see you too. :)

Alright Mr. Boi then I would prescribe a $50-60 tower fan for your room.

Just wanted to give you the sincerest of thank you's for taking the time out of your day to write that out. I've used Melatonin before, and it helps you sleep, but it doesn't help you long term (at least for me). I'm also a little reluctant to it because I don't want to build a dependency on it.

Just want to let you know I'm sorry you lost your job. I hope eventually you can get another one. I'm a little, not very (sorry for that misconception), stressed because of a lack of sleep, hence the cycle, but also because of school and other issues. There's always something in the back of my mind that's always telling me, "something's wrong." I think it's my perfectionism that's the main issue.

Sex right before you close your eyes or masturbation if a partner isn't available. It causes a natural chemical reaction in your body that destresses and relaxes you.

The key to sleeping is to not have anyone else wake remotely around you. So this means if you live in an apartment or live with someone who refuses to go to sleep when you need to, it means you'll be having delayed rest/sleep.

Melatonin isn't going to help in the long term unless you use it to fix your sleep cycle.
I used to have terrible insomnia. I'd rarely ever fall asleep, I'd just lie in bed.
A combo of eating healthily & using melatonin helped a lot.
Don't just take the melatonin whenever you want to sleep. You have to do it at a certain time so your body becomes used to the pattern. Make some rule for yourself like "I won't take melatonin after 11:30".
You don't become dependent on it, it's just supposed to help you set a pattern for yourself.

Also try ASMR videos. Look them up on YouTube sometime. I find them really helpful to de-stress to a point where I can sleep.

Yes...my sleep is worse then yours. On a normal night I stay awake that late and wake up at least three to five times. For waking in the morning, I use an alarm clock that graphs my sleep. But this is probably because I'm a vampire.

I think 90% of the issues/solutions mentioned ITT center around cortisol (and its associated neurotoxic/excitotoxic effects).

Reduce it through exercise, dietary changes (nix carbs and caffeine), and supplements (L-theanine). L-theanine in combination with a choline source (citicoline, alpha-GPC) in particular is great if you need caffeine because it blocks a lot of the effects of cortisol & epinepherine which produces a very nice, steady, and sustained hyperfocus.

our brain
The only times I can ever remember having trouble sleeping is if I was sick or extremely anxious... waking up on the other hand.

I may be wrong though, one of the key things I have found is that I never mind not falling asleep, because it means quality time musing or daydreaming in my brain.
