You have a very generous 24hrs in which to edit or delete your own post.

Thereafter it resides forever in the interstices of our minds.

So you will have to either hack INTP Forum, buy-it-out, or influence enough individuals to change the rules, in order to edit your own posts beyond the 24 hour window.

You forgot abject supplication.

:worship:

Cases pleading risk to personal safety are often heard favourably.

And of course there's always blackmail... there's always blackmail.

There's something deeply cathartic about that phrase.

After 24hrs you are powerless!!!

Deleting content but not entire post naturally leaves an almost empty post...

Anyway. I prefer supplicants to bring me some token... such as Sephiroth in chains. And for blackmailers to actually find something truly awful about Ogion.

:)

Can you still edit after that? so you can delete what you said but not the message? so then you take up space?

Think hard...

Right away my Lady. ;)

I don't want to hear any complaints from male members, I could've broken your minds with some of the stuff a 30 sec search yielded.

My faithful servant...

any boon within my power to grant, shall be yours.

I would think so, I do not exactly aspire to have great taste in men, I was born with many skills, man judging was not one.

I looked up a definition of what it means to have "taste" and found nothing (I find this to be a problem)

At the risk of increasing thought before posting, it may be best practice to point out that deleting anything one has written upon the internet has absolutely no effect upon the people who may have either copied the post with copy/paste ( or saved the whole page as a file ); nor upon search engines --- I've seen threads from here posted within a few hours of their initial release available on Google.

Theoretically people can request Google to remove items, but a/ it requires adequate reasoning, b/ I doubt it often works, c/ I bet they neither like unprofitable tasks nor wish to spend their time reading lunatics' requests --- which is what would happen if this practice became popular. Besides which, stuff is still stored in Google's cache-banks, accessible to the manically determined; and there are plenty of other search engines busily squirrelling away the Vital Thoughts of the People, whether from Youtube, here or any other site on the net for as near eternity as the internet lasts.

Could be 20 years, could be 200.

I'm in the unfortunate situation that I wrote a bunch of information in my thread 'Help analysing this girl' that I feel bad about leaving on the forum. I was not expecting there to be a time limit on the ability to edit/delete, and I had hoped I could delete it once the discussion was over. I provided the information because I thought it might be useful to the thread.

I ask because I'd like to refer some of my INTP friends to this forum because I think it might help them out becoming better people, but I'm reluctant to do so with this information laying around that would personally identify/embarrass me. Can't you guys help me out?

I personally think it should be more
than one day, but less than a week.

But I delete things a lot.

I agree. In Anthile's music recommendation thread I was going to insert links into my huge carefully selected list of music only to find out I couldn't edit my post anymore.

the only problem with that is someone could post something about your post without quoting and if you delete it they would look like an idiot.

Then the said idiot could delete its own post.
