I'm not sure about anyone else here, but I've always had trouble meeting people that I didn't find myself bored with after about a minute or so of socializing. Which, I'm fairly certain, is due to an extremely low tolerance for incompetence (I apparently attract ignorance).

So, without further ado - I can't help but wonder if anyone here has tried socializing with each other outside of the forum? Exchanging phone numbers (texting only, as long distant calls are expensive and would more than likely result in long pauses between outbursts of random conversation [that is to say, if we ever managed to get through the awkward silence] if any of you are REALLY like me), for instance, or maybe IM user names, etc..

As for myself, since I don't currently have a working computer at home, I am limited to communicating with all of you by means of a smartphone. If anyone here is in the same situation, you know how inconvenient it sometimes can be.

I'm not, in the least bit, suggesting migrating away from the forum, just conversing outside of it from time to time. What do you folks think?

I think it would be wonderful but I have the need for privacy, I don't want my MSN account for example to be connected with my nickname over the net and thus I prefer not publishing it online - but if someone was ever to contact me for debates I would be extremely happy to have intellectual conversations.

The only problem is that usually people don't initiate it that much because it's a sign of "weakness" or even "obsession"...

If you want to talk, I have no problem sending you my MSN via a PM.

IM's will never replace forums, but it will certainly give bias to people who contact each other; thus creating groups that are contained in themselves - few days later it will develop into a WAR of two sides (because it's always 2). :storks:

Boredom is in the eye of the observer.
INTP or not, people are usually a lot more interesting then they seem at first.

Boredom is the result of a failure to pique my interest. The purpose of this thread wasn't to ignite philosophical suggestions, but to inquire as to whether or not people would be interested in socializing outside of the forum and anything beyond that is off-topic. So, while I appreciate your effort to contribute to this thread, it was an unnecessary contribution.

Hear, hear.

In addition, one must remember that there's a great chance oneself is boring.

I haven't met anyone here outside the forum, but I'm planning on meeting a certain someone :phear:

Sorry about that then.
For a person who is seeking new contact, you do seem to discard anything you don't want to hear very easily.
Oh, was this unnecessary too? I do apologize.

We actually have a facebook group. Just saying...

Also, for long distance: skype?

It's not particularly uncommon for people to meet outside of the forum. Personally I interact with forumites in various places be it irc, tinychat, facebook, other forums, okcupid, or email. Firehazard159 and I met irl, and we meet up regularly still.

Really, there are all sorts of avenues you can pursue.

Is there really a facebook group for INTPforum, or people on the forum, or what have you?

Precisely, my point! This will undoubtedly build closer relationships than randomly conversing on a variety of threads.

Sorry about that then.

It was discarded with regards to relevancy. I only specified my troubles of meeting new people because it seemed logical that anyone who could/did relate would reply with thoughts and opinions on the topic of discussion. It wasn't meant to suggest a desperation for social interaction.

What's the name of the group?

Welcome, Wanderer! I'd love to know the same.

Just go to the facebook page and in the search bar put INTP. You should be able to find the INTP group page from there. Sort of sucks though. I spent a couple weeks observing (stalking) random people that got my interest and every time I tried to friend them they would get all suspicious, it just generally hasn't worked out the way I planned. They rarely post anything and if they do its some random quote or some crap about their day to day life (which everyone talks about). I was hoping for some random feed of insightful thoughts and I get that once in a while. Had better luck with the INTJ's but they are so feisty. I just want friendly debate, not all out war. I had one INTP who more or less became a best friend but that has quickly devolved into awkwardness.

What do you like to talk about?

I'm not sure, but it's rather chilly.

Doth I detect a bit of the sarcastic venom that, according to most, is so common to the INTP? So readily available, too. I love this forum more for the reading than the posting, if for nothing else than a giant behavioral experiment.
(In saying all this, I do understand I'm nowhere near the topic. So, I add that I'm open to contact outside of the forum, were it preceded by making adequate acquaintance.)
