I just received a very interesting brand new book in the mail today, "The 10,000 Year Explosion: How Civilization Accelerated Human Evolution". It's written by two Anthropologists from Utah University, Gregory Cochran and Henry Harpending. I hope to find time to read it this semester.. (I'll definitely make time). I recommend it to anyone interested in biohistorical ideas!

Same problems as well. So many books, so little time. Adding it to my reading list...

This reminds me of a book I borrowed from my math theory teacher (which has qualified me as a total geek to my friends ) called The Singularity is Near. It is basically about how human progress is continuing at an exponential rate (always has been) and that, fairly soon (2020 he predicts) humans will basically fuse their intellectually based selves with technology, combining human ingenuity with the more efficient processing systems of machines. We will then be able to manipulate matter as we see fit. It's very interesting, if a little outlandish at times.
