Out of the INTPs here, how many of you have been able to actually see those hidden 3d images in those pictures that looks nothing like a 3d picture at all, like this image http://www.magiceye.com/products/images/flag_poster.gif

I never have been able to see it and just wondered if INTPs have a problem seeing them as well or if it's just me.

I love those things! They don't work well on a computer monitor though. You have to focus intently on the center of the image and move your head slowly back and forth until something starts to pop out.

Yes I can see them with no problem, though it is tricky on the computer...

Why do you call them "laser"?

Re: Hidden 3d Laser images

The image that you provided is very difficult. Here is something easier:

ford_s.jpg

When you hold up one of your fingers in front of you, you can relax your eyes so that you see two fingers instead of just one. You would be splitting the image of your one finger into two fingers. You are doing something similar when you look at images like the one above. You relax your eyes and split the image into two images, but you need the two split images in the correct new positions, not just put them anywhere. Here is how you do that:

There are a bunch of vans and SUVs in the image above, but some are copies of each other. Before relaxing your eyes, you can find a van in the middle, and you go an inch to the left or right, and you find a copy of the same van. Then, relax your eyes, split the image, and overlap those two vans.

Re: Hidden 3d Laser images

Didn't have any problems with either one.

Could you maybe outline what you see in Paint?
I keep running into these and I have no perception of it at all. I realize giving the answer away spoils the fun for some, but instead of fun it's just frustrating. And not knowing is a pain. =|
(or to avoid spoiling the thread, then maybe pm? i'd really appreciate it..)

I'm amblyobic by anisomatropia (lazy eye without looking like you have a lazy eye), so I cannot see those illusions. Many of you are likely in the same boat if you got glasses when you were a kid with differential prescription for each eye. During the development of your eyes having glasses at a young age creates a disparity between the eyes making you rely on visual cues from one eye more than the other. These illusions require people to have eyes that operate in a balanced way. If your eyes can't do that, you cant see the illusions.

Thank you Zombie for explaining that. I have always wondered why I couldn't see what I was supposed to see in those images. When I looked at the flags image that the original poster had posted It looked to me more like a Rhinoceros dancing the can can, which is better than what I usually see which is nothing but a jumbled mess.

Re: Hidden 3d Laser images

I see it! ^_^

Okay, people try this...

Print out the image (black/white is fine) and then puncture a hole in the center of it about the diameter of a pen. Now, get the paper and put it about one foot away from your eyes and peek through the hole and focus on some object you see in your house until the object becomes sharp (and you'll see it sharply via two holes).

Move the paper closer or farther, and slowly shift between seeing through the hole and at the image itself until you find the right distance/focus for it to pop out.

Hope that works for you also.

(for the record, I wear glasses and have -2.50 on both eyes.)

Re: Hidden 3d Laser images

While rewatching these now I have realized that it is possible to 'lock on' to a wrong image if you cross your eyes too much. For example in the first one I have managed to see what looks likes two overlapped and shifted peace signs, and also 3. I couldn't make any sense of the ford one before, I just saw some jumbled lines, but now I can. In general it is easier if the image is larger.

That first one is hard to see unless you get really close to the picture, though it is obvious what it is from the title. The second one is a car advertisement.
