I tend to find it very annoying when people suggest something. Whether it be them giving their opinion on something im buying or just them giving me a piece of advice.
In fact when people do give me advice i notice i tend to ignore it completely and i hate that they would have the nerve to do so. Of course its not the same case when I'm actually looking for advice.
I think it has to do with the fact that when i make a decision on anything, i like looking at all my options extensively. I know for sure this is a strong INTP characteristic but just curious on how some of you approach it/deal with it.
When i look back sometimes i can identify moments in life in which i would have saved a lot of time had i just listened to some of the suggestions people have given me instead of totally resisting it. In fact as i turn 21 today i can see that all lot of my troubles during my teen years was my approach with advice. I could have been where i am today a year ago had i just listened. And i don't get it. In fact im quiet jealous of people who can just make decisions on the spot and not care whether it was the best decision they could have made or not.
Do you wish that you were not as stubborn at times and could be fine with not having an option? I do feel it is getting better as i am getting older but my initial reaction to advice is still "no" allot of times. And if someone forces something upon me i still do tend to resist it but it isn't as bad as it used to be.
