Let's play a game:

If you're INTP or borderline INTP, choose another personality type and critique INTPs from that perspective. Feel/think as if you were that type when replying. e.g. You could become INFP and complain about how cold and heartless many INTPs are. Try to make it cleverly stereotypical, not stupidly stereotypical.

If you're not INTP, you become an INTP and describe everything amazing about them from their perpective :p

ENFP, fictional:
I'm dating an INTP and I have a lot of INTP friends. They're great, but sometimes they're just so stupid! My bf has taken a long time to figure out the kind of emotional support I need. And when the INTPs get together they just argue and argue about small stupid points! It makes me so bored. They're also so timid when meeting new people- I feel like I have to introduce them around. When I lived with three INTPs last year I felt like I was almost in charge of making sure they got outside and were healthy. My bf forgets to eat, roommate 1 get sullens and quiet and needs to talk one-on-one with me, and then roommate 2 gets annoyed at roommate 1 for being creepy. And roommate 2 smokes too much weed because he's depressed over a girl he has a crush on.

Jeez! They just need some kind of basic life training. But they're wonderful too. :)

ENFJ-

I've always listened to INTP say that they desire objectivity, but if this were true wouldn't they exert the same amount of effort when attempting to ascertain others as they do with their constant introspection and self-searching?
I believe selfishness and narcissism bring you closer to subjectivity, and who is more likely to obsess over themselves than those who the rest of society doesn't understand?

If they could just learn that other people have doubts and are capable of feeling the same amount of internal strife as they do, there is no way they could possibly ignore others and continue with this misunderstanding, surely their objectivity would benefit from understanding the process of compassion.

They just need someone willing to help them achieve it.

(COMPASSION! I feel sick just thinking about it.)

ENFP: Why do you have to be so nihilistic and nitpicky? Things don't have to be perfect; just enjoy life. @____@ Not everything needs a reason! Some things can't be explained. >_____< Also, you're so unfeeeeeeeling~ I mean, you chuck your childhood plushies at me while I have sentimental feelings for my mother's cell phone number- that's right, her cell phone number!

((Last is an almost direct quote, no lie. ; ) ))

ESTJ: Why is this house so messy? You act as though you don't even live here! Clean this up, get something done around here! Go outside, get some exercise! Clean your room- did you get that taken care of yet?

((Can you tell these are both based on reality? ; D ))

Ah, the ESTJ would give you a list of things to do after commenting on the sorry state of your life, and then get mad when you do not follow the list the correct way. :p

Not to derail the thread, but too true. *thinks of the series of lists that have been hung on the refrigerator*

My gf is an ESTJ. This is a typical day for her when she's with me.

From her perspective:

10 am - Get up, take a shower, slap bf to wake his lazy ass up to drive me to work.
6 pm - Get picked up by bf. He seems really happy and goofy again. I try to tell him about my day, but he just ignores me again....
7 pm - Havin' dinner with him. He goes on and on about something I don't understand again. It's fine though cuz his excitement in discussing it amuses me. I try to tell him about my day again and he actually pays attention this time. I love his sexy brain ;)
9-11 pm - He hangs out in his room on the computer while I watch TV outside...He comes out once in a while to check on me...I want more attention so i go in his room and yell at him for an hour to pay get attention. My friends come over and we have a nice lesbian sex orgy...but his head is still stuck onto his monitor...
12 am - We go to bed. I rock his world and we pass out....

LOL sorry i just read the post subject again...I guess I got off topic...

ISTJ (my father): I really can't understand my son, he spends four years doing a BA degree and has a job that has absolutely no connection to it. Now he tells me he is going to quit this job right in the middle of the worst recession Ireland has ever faced. His problem is motivation. He's never moved out of the tiny studio apartment he's living in even though he's well paid. He doesn't even have a car yet.

I got into a huge argument with him the other day when he told me that Top Gear has 350 million viewers but I know that can't be true. We argued for an hour and then left it. The next day I wanted to talk about it again but he didn't seemed to care any more.

sorry offtopic: 50% of denmark probably watches top gear.

Its a show worth seeing, 350 million is possible if it's showed across europe + in the US perhaps, which i have no idea if it is. But oh well :)

I was speaking from my fathers point of view, he was the one who didn't believe me when I told him about Top Gear's audience

They never want to help me take over the world! Why????! They have so many brilliant insights, but they are simply never interested in imposing their logic's will on everyone else by FORCE! I need people who will assume they are correct at all times and MAKE the world obey their orders! These silly INTPs just talk and talk about shit, but no maniacal authoritarian action! What are you waiting for INTPs???

Physically in space and time, or so I'm told.
I'm going to butcher this quote badly as to accentuate the discrepancies.

ENFP, fictional:
I'm dating an INTP and I have a lot of INTP friends…/…And when the INTPs(*)…/…I lived with three INTPs…

*Plural!
And three INTPs in the same house! AND she has a lot of INTP friends! Good golly this story is SO unbelievable!

sorry offtopic: 50% of denmark probably watches top gear.

We get it here (USA) and yeah it's pretty cool, though you need satellite or cable to get it.

My girlfriend is really interesting and clever and makes me feel really special when I show her off and she's got fabulous boobs I love to cuddle up to them it makes me feel like I'm safe again in my mum's arms and it's so lovely being here with her in my beautiful room where I've created a perfect little space (although I do wish she wouldn't move those perfectly-placed cushions) and just put on the perfect piece of music and... what? why on earth does she want to spoil the moment by bringing up that aspect of my life/our relationship/my work/her work and analyse what's going on and now she's saying horrible things about what I do and what I should do differently and it makes me feel like crap and I don't really understand what that has to do whatever theory she's on about and now not only do I feel like crap but I feel really stupid and I think she's trying to suffocate me and I want to escape.

All of this logic just makes people uncomfortable, of course between you and me I find it quite refreshing.

They just need to realize that if they were just more like me, more extroverted and perfect, they will be just fine.
