Ah, well that makes sense. "Merz" + "bow" (apparently the Japanese word for building?).

Pornography, or the act of sex? Pornography, one could argue, is more crude and taboo and is therefore more analogous to noise. But sex is more reptilian in a sensory sort of way, I think, so it seems a better representation of the unconscious human libido. I don't know if you are making a distinction here but I'm interested on your take on that.

Your explanation has certainly put it into new perspective for me. I still won't pretend to understand the aural attraction, though, even if the theory is extremely intriguing Closest I can probably get to it is maybe drone music.
As far as I know, my friend doesn't listen to other noise acts. What are some ones you like? What makes each of them unique?

Ha yay that makes me feel somewhat special. One of my friends really likes Merzbow and has been talking about him nonstop. I imagined it being spelled the way your username is spelled, actually. I don't understand the draw to it though. My friend tells me it's the intrigue of not comprehending the sounds but knowing that there is an underlying pattern or meaning. Also, that it's a strangely relaxing chaos. What are your thoughts?
I'm just thinking that'd be one trippy live experience.

Probably true. We should sometime, anyways. I'd feel bad about it cuz I don't know as much as I wish. I have "the society of the spectacle" by my bed in a pile of books waiting to be read. I started it but never finished. Psychogeography and the dérive occasionally pop up in my arch theory classes too. But lets leave that for after I read more I suppose.
