Typing bias

Hey, I have a little problem.

When I first scratched the surface of the MBTI I thought it was the bomb, and perhaps got a little too excited about the prospect of defining people like that.
Then I started learning about the functions, read this post http://www.intpforum.com/showthread.php?t=6582 and really without further inquiry I just started typing people based on whims like "this guy is showing what seems to be tertiary fe and he's into snowboarding so he must be estp" and other superfluous assumptions.
I recently started noticing that I haven't been growing out of this, but it's been getting worse since it's mixed in with biases I had which were basically Ti and Ne are the way to go and all others are inferior. (I was a teenager when I formed these opinions).
Now I'm starting to see I've been creating pretty thick walls built of four letters each between me and other people instead of trying to understand people which obviously the MBTI is designed to aid in.

So although I am now starting to become aware of this habitual immature typing, I kinda still do it.
And I feel it's because somewhere deep down I truly believe my opinions (some of which radiate arrogance) of some types with particular primary functions.

Can anyone relate?

If you know you're biased, then you can pick and choose what to accept as biases and what to accept as a solid judgment or reason to act. The brain is a lying, fear-mongering little brat.

This was a problem for me early on, but I tried to quash it because it made me easily misled and potentially easily manipulated through my biases. That alone was enough.
