I've never heard of personality cafe but this is hilarious anyway.

So, guys, what do you think of making the INTP Forum a dating site?

Not this ShaiGar, was it?

If so I have a pretty good idea what that "incident" was...

Well around late 2008 my writing style apparently sounded quite feminine... maybe it still does, I dunno, anyway point is that ShaiGar sent me a PM in which he asked if I was available.
At the time I just laughed it off, though now I wish I'd said yes :D
For the lulz of course.

From that amusing occurrence I can tell two things.
1. ShiGar is/was very direct.
2. And doesn’t check his facts.

So I'm guessing this "incident" somehow involved these two attributes in some way, most likely he came onto someone a little too directly, or someone who he shouldn't have been propositioning in the first place.

Btw, I suspect I wasn’t the only one here he asked.

Is it reaaaaally that bad now, crypt? I haven't lurked around in ages. To think that some of the older members here saw the very birth of that forum. :phear:

EDIT: Somebody remind me why shai-gar stopped posting here?

(I don't get the fascination with that video snippet and Hitler in general) but it was a funny text for sure ;)

Yes, Kuu, i joined PersonalityCafe when it was like 2 weeks young (Lance heavily advertised..). I posted for a while, but it quickly grew to enormous size. Like, just a few weeks after i came there it had more than 3000 posts per week. Also the admins added feature after feature, making it a bloaty page, and thats where i decided to stop going there.
Had it been a dating site from the beginning i wouldn't even have signed up :P

So, guys, what do you think of making the INTP Forum a dating site?

I know it was a joke, but.... please don't.

I can't even access PersonalityCafe at work anymore because Lance did that. My work filter screens the place out now as a "Dating/Social" site.

In addition, his myriad advertisements tend to fill memory and lock up my browser at home.

It's just very cluttered visually and kind of hard to read. Most of the posts are made more of sidebars, signature lines, and random art than they're made of actual content.

I do like some of the people, though.

Wow! That was truly intelligent AND entertaining! Which has more allure then easy teens and blathery banter (for me). I guess that is why I never bothered there.

Uh, I had hoped from having mentioned it sufficiently, nevermore would explanation be needed...

:king-twitter:

I am an absolute monarchist, a divine right royalist, a hereditary legitimist: as such I am a fervent Jacobite; and I selected my name to honour John Graham of Claverhouse, Viscount Dundee, who was our exemplar, and did a lot of good work police-actioning the West of Scotland ( where the die-hard Cameronian presbyterian republicans did their best to make everyone's life unbearable ) before dying a hero's death at Killiecrankie.

I don't dislike Hitler and the nazis for starting wars or for killing a lot of innocents: I utterly despise them because they were republicans. Still, so were most of their enemies. I despise them also.

I quite like London, though a trifle over-strenuous for my taste. He was rather a fraud in many ways ( like most famous socialists of the period; and like many of those, would have probably founded a shirted fascist party had he lived to the '30s. I can see him admiring more the violent Trotsky that the crafty Lenin or heavy Stalin... ), but a fine writer and a strong individualist.

I'll write a script if anyone asks.

*thinks about it for a bit*

We should each write our own Hitler-script, our own rants.

Copycat B-films aren't that highly esteemed even by the dismal collectors of Noir...

There are other dictators, but Napoleon and Hitler are the ones whom they make films about. Occasionally Lincoln.

Can one imagine in the palmy days of the Studio system even, some hack successfully proposing a Biopic entitled Francia ! ?

His short story featuring Claverhouse as a character is one of my favorites. You can see the Ambrose Bierce morbidly sardonic influence at work. :-)

Oddly enough, Pussy was first used for rabbits and hares before it was appropriated for cats; as in 'The poet Cowper dearly loved him some pussy', which would refer to his benevolent affection for his pet hare 'Puss' rather than his being a proto-anime addict.

He really wasn't into the other thing at all, and prolly had yet another nervous breakdown any time he thought about it.

The normal term for lapines back then was Cony or Cuny, whence other derivatives. I would willingly in deference to Banana Mango's sensitivity change the title to 'Teen Cunny', but pussy being a direct quote from the video this would be unduly censorous.

of course sexual stimuli is a bigger motivator than intellectual stimulation

Surely, I could point to many depressing old buggers from Plato to Calvin to Spinoza to Einstein for whom this is not in the least bit true. And it's not true for half the human race who prefer watching TV or pursuing material dreams to either.

I don't see where he's "being a dick". He mimicked your style a bit ("surely") to show that your (perceived) sureness of it ("surely, i mean surely,") leads you wrong.

Firstly, I don't like the word "pussy".

It's funny, because my girlfriend will pretty much only call them pussies. Apparently vagina is derived from some ancient root word or something that means "sheath", which then holds the connotation of penises being weapons that you can do some damage with. She doesn't like the connotations, so she always uses what other people consider to be the cruder terms instead.

what don't you like about it?

I just think it's vulgar and, frankly, not sexy. It's a way of de-aurifying the mystique of the female genitalia, which many guys find a big turn on, hence the common use of it in porno. I'm not really into that though, if it's madonna vs the whore I'll take madonna every time. But I'm kind of asexual so bear that in mind.
