My friend said they can see a round multiple corners in their mind at the same time in video games. They also can make things by visually understanding circuits.

My question is if a person can know where things should go, is this the basis for iq?

I assume that's the point, besides laungauge intelligence is about seeing in your head what will create the effect you want and like real eye sight the number of details is an increase of intellect.

Because one can handle more complex interactions of the parts involved it is all about seeing where they should go in a literal sense?

Is there a way to improve vision to obtain greater amounts of details when working on complex problems? Looking at everything at the same time?

It helps people with some components of IQ tests but it isn't IQ. I explored more about aphantasia the other day and I'm thinking mine is worse than I at first thought. I don't have much issue with spatial reasoning but the assumed visual navigation is not occurring, or at least, I'm not conscious of it.

IQ is a measure of problem solving ability, not the construct itself. And problem solving ability is a destination not a journey. Asking whether the visuospatial sketchpad is the basis of IQ is like asking if legs is the basis of Las Vegas.

i read somewhere that when they did scans of mathematicians' brains it showed they had much bigger visualization-processing parts than other people

i think that's because visualization is a very helpful tool for reasoning (like drawing things) rather than visualization being intrinsically linked to iq or intelligence

The brain is specialized as that's the reason sight is not completely the same as intelligence. But I think if intelligence is about problems solving then we can formulate what that is by saying it is the executive function of recognition and generation of pattern planning.

Setting goals and achieving them, that's planning requires patterns understood as ways to get things done. Then doing them.

Not simple, but it is simple.

Because patterns are complex but getting an architecture to do so can be understood.

Marvin Minsky called it the perceive think act model.

A brains executive function works with perception, they are integrated, yet you can break it down into modules.
