Hey everyone, as you've all probably assumed, I'm new to this forum. I'm friends with thehabitatdoctor; he's actually the person who convinced me to leave intpc and join intpf! I believe a round of applause is in order. Here's a little about myself:

Type: INTJ (I personally believe I'm an INTP but others may disagree :beatyou:)
Interests: Primarily pretty much any and all areas of science; particularly ecology and systems. In addition, I find profound interest in a plethora of other topics, ranging from the effects of drugs on behavior and the mind to politics and religion.
Other: I've yet to meet an argument I didn't like.

If anyone has any other questions... please, PLEASE feel free to ask. I like to talk.

:chocor: The smileys are awesome btw

You've got to figure yourself out well enough (functions) to refute one or the other. Until then you = INTJ as far as I'm concerned. It's at least a test of my physiognomy skills.

Ah yes, smileys.

Let's see if we can find one you don't like so we can set a precedent:

1. Republicans are better than Democrats.
2. Taxes should be raised to pay for stuff.
3. There is a God.
4. Pluto is the proper name for a planet.
5. Religion is better than economics.
6. INTPf is better than INTPc.
7. This list is too long.
8. This list is too short.
9. Gay marriage is a bad idea.
10. Economics is more important than philosophy.

@The Introvert Imagine yourself in the atrium of a medieval castle, standing before a boy of sixteen in a cloak as I deliver you this message. Consider it a lighthearted introduction to our forum with a Dark Age spin.

Ah, a new member. I know that this castle of a forum is dark, drafty, and damp, but the fire is warm and toasty, so kick back, relax, and warm your feet whilst sipping Dwarven Ale and eating roast boar taken fresh from our Black Forest. The sparring gym can be found just down the left, near the Great Hall; if you happen to get hurt, head down to the infirmary where the more compassionate ones among us can patch you up.

This place has a glorious history of titanic battles among the great knights of our order: Cognisant, Architect, Da Blob, and ProxyAmenRa, just to name a few. And in our finest hours, we've taken trophies: the heads of Norse Gods, the crimson blood of dreamers scorned, and the still-beating heart of a troll. Yet, if love a trade you seek, other manors may better able to help you.

INTP's often find love in the mysterious yet practical idealist: the INFJ. Flighty, yet warm, intelligent, yet intriguingly irrational, they steal our hearts and return them full of Aphrodite's dreamy drink. Their castle lies deep within the bowels of the earth, and we often exchange philosophical musings for hug potions-- if our trade caravans can survive the oft-itchy trigger fingers of their guards.

Not only do we interact with the dreamers, but with other rationals as well. The one-hundred story glass tower that you saw on the way in is a colony of ENTJ's; their very similar structure and yet different perspective on life have made trade and friendship with them both lucrative an interesting. Yet they are just as 'soulless' as we, and few have ever tried to mate with them-- a course I that highly recommend maintaining.

As a final detail, even we of the rational temperament can fall victim to our emotions. Try to remember that in your posts, as even a simple, "Alright, let's let this cool off for a few days" or "Oh, that must have hurt something awful; here's a dry shoulder, dude *hug* :)" can work wonders when another poster is angry or upset.

Perhaps analysis of, say, number three will do for now?

Provide me evidence of god and I may reconsider. :D

At best the issue's moot - that's where faith (i.e., willful suspension of rational faculties) and excoriation of science comes in.

3's already been beaten to death. Absurdism.

Hopefully 5 should come in a few weeks (Xmas break biatch). 10 I can do now ;)

Your answer to five was already funny and ten would sound like three. Meh, not up for it.

Let's go with 9...

Now I'm assuming you want me to disagree with your statement? I will decline, and simply ask you: "Why?"

I'll assess the degree to which I could respond based on your reasoning.

Hello. You may excuse the pretentiousness.
according to test?

I took a couple online tests. Read up on the characteristics and I would feel that I am more or less a mixture of INTP and INTJ but I'm not sure if that's even possible. Kind of a reason I'm here, actually :)

I've got to point out that typology isn't easy and the archetype descriptions aren't always 100% accurate, being vulnerable to factors including upbringing, those around you, and certain extracurricular activities. There's also the issue of potentially answering questions according to how you want to be as opposed to how you are. I'd barely even consider it science (construct validity?) but for the behavioral and likely physical correlations. There's a lot of "art" involved.

You could start a "Type Me" thread in the Typology subforum, ideally including test results from places like similarminds & socionics (<-these differ, but that's a new tangent) plus a video of you explaining something or just a general introduction.

It ultimately comes down to understanding the functions themselves:

http://personalityjunkie.com/functional-stack-myers-briggs-theory/
http://personalityjunkie.com/myers-briggs-functions-inferior-function/

Of course, you can put this off say... if you're in the middle of finals week with a certain exam on Monday ;)

*update to post #21*

You may remember seeing something close to this say... some time back in September: http://www.socionics.com/sta/sta_turbo.html

Your results then were INTj, in Socionics terms. As for what that actually means... well, there are plenty of existing threads here on the subject of Socionics.
