What this appears as is similar CFs, but one is extroverted and one is introverted.
But, they are actually opposite.
For example, if we compare Ne to Se, it is relatively easy to see how these are similar. Ne is "general" and "wide lens" thinking, drinking in all the data in the environment, whereas Se is taking in a very specific data point in the environment.
As such, Ne and Ni are actually opposites.
Ni looks at the internal territory in a general sense - a vast landscape of the mind. Whereas Ne is looking outwards, talking in the vast landscape of the external world.
This is why INTPs are so good at deduction. Because they are constantly surveying all that is in the external world and seeing how that makes sense in terms of their inner logic.
As an INFJ, I do the opposite. I "look" at my vast inner world and see how it "fits" with others.
Now, someone might say, "Well, ACKSHUALLY, you are an INFP because you debate with people." But my motivation when I debate is for the purpose of others, not my own values. People often mock me and ridicule what I believe. But I think what I believe is true. Not in some interpersonal realizations, but what makes sense for all humanity. When I debate with an INTP, they are often looking at the exceptions to the rule or how this particular data point doesn't fit nicely with what I said. But my conclusions are based on what I believe as a whole, in a big picture way, not a specific data point. What I say with my Ni makes sense according to my own framework of Ti, rather than the INTP who is looking to "hone in" their inner logic of Ti with Si--a specific data point. So, INTPs are much more concerned with a holistic approach as it pertains to their specific data points, whereas I am trying to bring something to the INTP that they can benefit from.
Now, I can benefit from an INTP's vast knowledge and logical deduction. I am not ruling that out. I just made this post to highlight some of the differences between thought processes that end up with some serious clashes of ideas between me and other INTPs.
