Yeah, a second thread in the same time period. I'm not trying to spam, and I won't post anything else for a while. (Mods, don't kill me.)

My brother took an MBTI test some time ago and got ENFJ. I didn't believe that typing. I've been thinking about his type, and ISTJ sounds right. He has a quirky sense of human that he doesn't deviate too often, but he is a little more "expressive" than what you would think an ISTJ would be (roughly) in the sense that he'll make silly faces and whatnot. He isn't incredibly talkative though, and he's not necessarily stern. Either his Fi is used over his Te somehow, or his Te is just undeveloped, if he was ISTJ. He also hasn't exactly displayed traits of lead Si but he hasn't really done anything different over the years, and I do sense a lack of Ne. I don't know for sure because i've checked through each type to see if he matched, but none of the others sound accurate.

I did have him take the "john's personality test" which wasn't smart. It's a test that uses the typing frequency of the user base to find people's types. Regardless, it still is strange he would type as ENFJ in that situation.

So, any experience or ideas about this one?

Not much anymore, but I was around him fairly often between 6 months ago and 1 month ago. I know him pretty well, I would think.

How old is he, and occupation? ISTJs usually like typing as NT. If anything, possibly consider ISFJ? All things considered maybe some "sense of duty" compelled him to type as "caring" and a "people person".

I'm not so much asking about him as about how ISTJs in general might mistype as ENFJs. He's 20, no occupation right now, He's going to college right now. He wants to get into some sort of medical career. He's not on the NT side, nor the NF side. If he was SF I would believe it but ST sounds right. He was very close to his friend group, and was with his friends nearly every day his senior year. He was won of the top players for the high school basketball team and is pretty good at sports. He may not be ISTJ, but I think ISTJ fits because he doesn't have that sparky extrovert quality, his feeling function is likely not low on his stack. When I tried to explain type theory to him he said "This is, complex. Like math." I had him read a short description on it but he didn't seem to be grasping it, or really wanting to read further.

I considered ISFJ, but he doesn't have the ISFJ's Fe. He could be, but his Fe doesn't show if he was. He's not one to be stepped on, he's an 'individual' but not one to directly assert himself. He isn't a procrastinator, and he's into scheduling and results now. His college workload is demanding but he's planned his days out.

He recently described how in college he has to take quizzes that test on minute details, and he doesn't do so well on those. I don't know how specific Si can be but perhaps just not for him.

ISFJ could fit. IJ fits if anything.
