How to delete an account

mods, I wish to delete myself. I want a new name and persona on here, how do I erase me? Or change my name at least? Is it somehow against the rules? Do I have to make myself get banned? I don't want to upset anyone... I suppose I could stay Higs... Dunno..

It is not allowed.

At some point in the past, cosmetic changing of accounts and names were possible, but the practice was halted due to the frivolity of causes and the unnecessary strain and confusion it puts on the database, mods and other users.

I think the restriction is ironic, considering I would expect us to be a "flexier" type.

I'm not for people changing regularly, I agree it would be confusing if done regularly. Leave it to 1 or max 2 name changes ever, and that should be able to be monitored in the admin user panel and especially if it's as rare as I think it'll be. You could also insist they mention it in their sig or something.

I just think it's a terrible reason to lose a member who would otherwise continue to participate, if they decide changing their name is that big a deal.

EDIT: oh you probably don't have the plugin installed to changed the Quotes to the new username... TypC has one.

The biggest reason is a bunch of "nasty" SQL queries have to run on the DB servers, and the database for the forum is just getting too big. In some cases, a username change can seize up (meaning no one can use that server for the forum) a DB server for 5-10 minutes. Forces a few full table scans on many gigabytes of data.
