do you believe in experience immunity

one develop immunity towards otherwise traumatic and life threatening experiences towards exposure.

like violence or drugs, or homeless., or bad experiences.

"what doesnt kill you only makes you stronger"

or is it just a matter of perception and false belief,

There are two directions. Worse and better. You can gain from bad experiences but not if you have been too much affected. Worse and worse. It is a fine line in the middle. You cant be broken down or you will never recover.

that is a good point, i think its part of the survival/adaptation mechanism, like developing real immunities towards virus. but it doesnt work really well in all situations,

my hypothesis is once you experience something bad first time, if a similar experience repeats second time one is less traumatized and third, so forth, but sometimes in other cases one sink deep into a hole and never recover, or take a long time to recover.

for example if someone breaks into your home at night ,it is shocking and paralyzing the first time, the next time after you survived it happens your mind and body has some preperation, immuinity towards it .
