The Magpie (not available at youtube)
The Magpie is a most illustrious bird
dwells in a diamond tree
one brings sorrow and one brings joy
sorry and joy for me

The Magpie is a most royal bird
black and blue as night
I would that I had feathers three
black and blue and white

I saw the gentle Magpie bird
in the dusky yestereve
one brings sorrow and one brings joy
sorrow and joy for me....
sorrow and joy for me....
The Mandolin Man And His Secret (not available at youtube)
He came into town with his mandolin
Calling all the people and they came to him
He said I want to hear all that's pretty
He said I want to hear all that's nice

They laughed at him with his mandolin
They left him there with his funny grin
He said I want to hear all that's pretty
He said I want to hear all that's nice

The children of the town then came to him
Magically called with his mandolin
He said I want to hear all that's pretty
He said I want to hear all that's nice

They smiled at him with his mandolin
Their eyes like his were sparkling
He said I want to hear all that's pretty
He said I want to hear all that's nice

They said d'you want to hear all that's pretty
They said d'you want to hear all that's nice

La la la la la la
La la la la la la
La la la la la la
La la la la la la

I like these songs you link. But whenever I think of Donovan I remember how he got destroyed by Dylan in that playoff they had in some room tween concerts :D

Bar the early stuff he's not similar to Dylan at all tho, and stands out in his own right though.

I haven't listened to him very much, but -again- you seem to've picked out good stuff :O Diggin the second one with its minor passage

Edit: nah the second song is boring, the gem here is this one:

this shit be ace:

Glad you can enjoy it.
On "Voyage into the Golden Screen":
It is sedating. I agree. That's what i want to get out of it once in a while.

On Dylan, i can not say too much, only that he was a role model for him.
(I have some personal issues with Donovan, don't know if this would be a proper place to discuss it, but in short i think he is a :D to the ick.
But this is just my opinion and i don't "condemn" people for being Dylan fans.
He has played an important role in cultural history and that i do recognize.
My personal problems with him are along the lines of Joni Mitchell's.)
But she isn't exactly the figurehead of "authenticity" either, as evidenced here:
Interesting derivative work on the topic above:
What the hell happened there?

Can you pull up an article which describes what you have mentioned going on backstage?

"Wear Your Love Like Heaven" is quite good, i agree.
It is also the first track on the album.
I think a lot of "trip hop" could be summed up in this song.

For what it's worth I do like him more than Bob Dylan, mostly because of the dreamy psychedelic tinge that he had. First heard him in The Wackness (2008) and had to hear more.

I recently had a chance to see that movie, but at least in my version there was no Donovan track, i double-checked the credits and couldn't find any.

That psychotherapist character was hilarious.
