I've read from various places and it seems to work in this manner where a types aux function is used creatively depending on the orientation of their dominant. And it's the function where people get out of their "comfort zone", including extroverts. A function in this position in someones stack works different then if it was elsewhere.
We see this in how INTP's and INFP's grow and develop when they find new avenues to explore, whether through traveling or being open to new ways of doing things. It's like their "fantasy" world where they got of being stuck in introverted judgment and let different external possibilities come alive. When their Ne comes out they bring about new theories or other abstract visions.
For IFJ's being Fe, this is where INFJ's or ISFJ's express themselves and allow their internal perceptions to flow in their environment in a non-linear(unlike Te), disparate fashion. Hence why we see many of these types as artists in one form or another. Fe is quite misunderstood in the typology community as just being concerned with harmony, but it's only a small or one aspect of it.
Extroverts like ETP's, find ways to capitalize on their opportunities by coming up with unique ways to identify, distinguish, various ideas or objects. ESJ's form reliable customs or sound methodologies.
