This is a full site were you try to stump the genie by answering questions about a character (form a book, movie, tv show, video game, or real life celebrity). So far It has guessed correct on all my characters twice I took had to guess 2 time instead of getting it write of the first time.

For Mr. Poppers (form Mr. Poppers penguins) it took two guess and the first time it guess Willy Wonka.

For Menphise (From Happy Feet) it took two guesses and the first time it guessed Lovelace also form Happy Feet.

http://en.akinator.com

Let me know if you can stump it. I thought it was entertaining enough.

Ha. It didn't find misty from pokemon, or I answered too many questions wrongly. Either way, I claim victory.

I can only beat it by not knowing enough about the person to give it information about them. It knows who Haley Paige is, btw.

It got Owen Lars right, too.

It seems to have a hard time identifying Lisbeth Salander. I keep trying, but it never gets it. I'm pretty sure I'm not answering the questions wrong either.

Slenderman

The fourth and fifth questions were "does your character wear a black suit" and "does your character have tentacles coming out of it's back" and there was a bunch of other really specific questions too, mixed with totally irrelevant ones, it was like it knew straight away and then toyed with me.

It guessed Iago right. But it took 25 questions to do it.

Would have failed the "20 questions" test.

Still, with a bit of improvement, maybe it could go on TV, like IBM's Watson.

Pretty good. It got "Greedo" (Star Wars) easily. It finally got "Bib Fortuna" after a long and torturous session. Amelie was difficult too, it gave up two times but we kept pushing until it got it.

It got Scott Joplin in 3 rounds.

And it guessed Harvey in 2 rounds!

Bobby Sands in 2 rounds, after guessing Shaka Zulu the first time.

Yoni Netanyahu (Israeli PM Bibi Netanyahu's killed brother) in one round!!

Couldn't guess Ron Arad.

He guessed a famous female porn star (who will remain unnamed :o) within 20 guesses.

The funniest part was: "Character already played 19171 times."

How this freaking "creature" works? Like said above, sometimes he seems to know the answer and just play around. It's amazing!

Status:

Jubnuk (Gamorrean guard eaten by Jabba's Rancor)
Mito(Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind)
Olivier Rochus (Belgian tennis player, shortest man on tour)

Mrs. Brisby (The Secret of Nimh)
Pangloss (Candide, 2 tries)

I cracked up when it asked me if Olivier Rochus was a character from the "Mother (Earthbound) series". I had already confirmed that he was a real person and an athlete.

Are you ashamed of yourself for liking porn, or something? Dude, that first person I said is totally a porn star. I love porn, yo. Porn rules!

23 rounds for Blair? I'm quite surprised – he wasn't even very long ago.

Canada, eh?
I've just found this and it is now greatly amusing me.

It got Patrick Jane from the Mentalist so quickly, and all of the questions asked seemed so vague... Although I stumped it the first time with Tony Stark from Iron Man.

Thank you for thoroughly destroying any opportunity of me doing anything remotely productive for at least an hour...

What I'd do is create a database with characteristics. "Sex, Profession, Fictional, Height,Name,..." etc. That's easy enough to do. The trick is that the user is providing a guided search. I'd do a recursive table search where each query builds from the previous. For example after a few questions you know it's (for example) [female&athlete&tall]. After eight questions it has eight constraints on the query which on a (say) 30 column table could easily pop up with one answer. To start it off you can just pick a column at random practically. As you go along columns drop out because they've been asked, or a query on them returns no subset or the entire set. So just pick any column at random that returns something inbetween.

For a web service this database query stuff can be done easily, too bad I didn't think of it. The hardest part is forming the questions properly (I'd have an extra table of hand written questions for each column in the first table, and you'd need to account for genders and such down the line), and filling the table initially.

Q. "Is your character human?"
A. No.

Next Q. "Is your character a Labour politician?"
