Sowelu It might be a challenge, Type me?

Hi, I would appreciate some help with typing myself. Did this on PerC with the same Username, you can find it there too. Just figured It would be better on here response wise.

1. Is there anything that may affect the way you answer the questions? For example, a stressful time, mental illness, medications, special life circumstances? Other useful information includes sex, age, and current state of mind.


2. Study these two images here and here. Which one do you prefer and why? How would you describe it?

I prefer the first one. It is beautiful and has an Isolated feel to it. The only issue with it is that it's too calming and once it is understood for what it is, it would be forgotten like everything else. There is really nothing special about both images, I just prefer the colour scheme and how brilliantly implied the first image is.

3. Please describe yourself as a person if you were to introduce yourself to someone else like in a cover letter. What kind of person are you and why?

I do not introduce myself. I would rather state how I can be useful, and keep the rest to myself. If its a professional CV, I would not include my self, just my skills else, I wouldn't even have to do a CV. For the sake of this questionnaire I shall describe myself. I am 20, I am curious, driven by fear of the external world, I would rather go out and experience the world once I have successfully developed my inner sense of self and logic. Based on my observations, people tend to cling on to as many external values and frameworks to feel secure, I do not believe in that as material is essentially useless consider how it is always in flux. I seek to break those systems and evaluate its logic against my own derived one. I like to think of myself as mysterious, but that is essentially meaningless. I believe strongly in perception and clean data. I really dislike how empirical data is generally biased simply because the data is collected from irrational beings. Everything external is biased. The contradiction here is that by relying on my inner framework on life and refusing to consider accepted beliefs, I would be seen as biased. The deconstruction process is beautiful though. I do not wish to be misunderstood as emotionless, I am aware of the presence of my emotions, I am just disconnected from them. Analysis lead to a greater understanding and a sense of control over them. I value competence, and am constantly seeking to upgrade my knowledge and skills so as to be able to diverge them all into one supreme truth. I am aware that truth is what I make of it, and as such I prefer to rely purely on frameworks, perception and logic to reach it. That is all I think you should know for the time being. Do inform if you need more input.

4. What kind of person would you LIKE to be? Why? What kind of person would you NOT want to be? Why?

I would like to be more confident and open to experiences. More able to go with the flow instead of analysing the situation to determine whether I have to. I would like to transcend my self and move beyond material somewhat. Undisturbed, undeterred, intelligent and thought provoking. I am drawn to the concept of destroying what others believe in, in a passive and logical manner, to get them to think about why they chose it. It would be interesting to see how they respond and react to that sudden loss of 'truth'. I believe my sense of self would rely on logic. As for my emotions, I wish for them to work with me and not against me.

I do not wish to be too outgoing, commanding, dependable, fearful. If i understand my fears, they would no longer exist. I do not wish to let my emotions become the ultimate factor when it comes to my worldview, or selfview. Irrational and helpless, vulnerable and insignificant, powerless, stupid. Those generally are the traits I do not wish to incorporate into my self.

5. Do you think there are any differences to how you described yourself and how people actually perceive you? How do you think others would describe you? If there are any discrepancies between these two that are you are aware of; do you know why exactly that is?

I do not know, I have been told by others that they can really talk to me. I g et to the truth of their problems. I dislike it though as superficial conversations are meaningless, I try to avoid it mostly. I am fine by myself with my thoughts and don't usually put in effort to blend it or join in the sheep. I have been viewed to be arrogant and off-putting, intense and intimidating. My ideas at times scare people, when to me, they seem perfectly fine. They're just ideas, concepts, they hold no worth until perfected. I am not really understood as a living creature, yet it is of not much significance to me, I would rather just let one person know 60% of me and that would be enough. Just one. I am unaware of the differences in perception, especially others perception of me. I will have to ask and it would be awkward emotionally.

6. What in life do you find to be of importance? Why? If you are unsure you can always take the Value Test and post the results here. Do note that it helps if you narrow it down to 20 or ideally 10 values as suggested at stage 2.

Balance, Synergy, Insightfulness, Perfection, Precision, Privacy, Knowledge, Transcendence, Logic, Understanding, Learning, Creativity, Beauty, Justice, Power, Bravery.

7. How do you react to new situations in your life? Can you describe an event in your life where you were in an unknown situation? How did you deal with it?

I usually back off, look beyond the situation, try to understand it, look at the long term implementations of my actions/ responses, try to learn and collect as much of information form the surroundings as possible, then confidently move on. Usually social situations, where I'm forced to attend or be the center of attention.

8. Please describe yourself when you are in a stressful situation. How do you act and why? Real life experiences are welcome.

I am usually unaware of the extend of my stress. Usually, I start thinking and doing things that please me, while studying for a physics exam, I would skip classes to buy books on physics and read them in detail, believing that by understanding them, I will do better, but then I get sidetracked and don't score as well as I should, become lazy in multiple aspects, zero motivation, highly nihilistic. Read up a lot on philosophy, and very carefully adopt the thinking pattern I agree with or find necessary to move on. Watching movies, masturbating, downloading tons of music that will later be deleted, going out alone exploring late at night giving myself time to think, overeating or lack of, insomnia, fearful of my surroundings, a bit paranoid, secretive, following trains of thought that lead to an irrational conclusion, focus on too many details losing track of the big picture, then comes the feelings I've been repressing, a slight depression, then clarity where I acknowledge my reactions and attempt to find solutions.

9. Please describe yourself when you are in an enjoyable situation. How do you act and why? Real life experiences are welcome.

I don't usually let myself enjoy physically, If i do enjoy, its purely mental, the stimulation there. I could be sitting still and enjoying. I maybe do express a bit emotionally.

10. Describe your relationship to socialization. How do you perceive one-on-one interaction? How do you perceive group interaction?

Expectations. searching for someone who doesn't exist.
Its not a priority. I believe one to one would be the most effective, due to being able to easily focus. As for group, I find it a bit of a weakness, a liability, as I would have to be forced to feel the need accommodate their feelings etc. I also experience moments of sensory overwhelm, where I tend to get stressed out with too many things happening around me usually due to volume, multiple instructions handed out the same time, Its noisy. The physical reaction would be to leave the area.

11. Describe your relationship to society. What are the elements of it you hold important or unimportant (e.g. social norms, values, customs, traditions)? How do you see people as a whole?

I don't care about society. That was a joke. Society was created, meaning it's manmade. It could be based on lies, stereotypes, unreliable data. As such I find it all unimportant and meaningless, I am all for progress in self development and tech, but in support of people and the future rather than society. The framework there makes no logical sense to me. It accommodates everyone, but then the thinking stops. It becomes comfortable for those who can take it, those who cant, act like they're comfortable. No one would sacrifice comfort generally. As self centred as I am I actually find people to be selfish and useless, especially if they remain as shallow, superfcial, in denial and blind as they currently are. I believe the change must start from the individual's thought. Start with the kids

12. Describe your relationship to authority. How do you perceive authority? What does it mean to you, and how do you deal with it?

I don't like it. Its not about the status, Its about the vision, how worth it is would determine who I'd support. Other than that I just do what I think is necessary and then move on. If I get too forced into a corner, I would get a bit assertive and respond accordingly to let them know where I stand. Though I rarely react that way unless I'm being badly repressed. Authority is a convenient way to manipulate the fears people have and get them to conform blindly into a structurally 'honest' society.

13. Describe your relationship to order and chaos. What do order and chaos mean to you? How do they manifest in your daily life?

Order and chaos is like a cube in a cube in a cube in a cube. They contain each other. I love mulling over the concept, how different is order and chaos viewed from good and bad, among majority of the successful people in the world. They are both necessary, order is derived from chaos, so maybe if the world were to be organised, there would have to be chaos, the creator will have to destroy, to rebuild. Meaning letting go of whatever we believe and hold necessary, in order to recreate. In my life, I do not recognise them directly. The only chaos i notice is the physical mess and feelings. The only order I notice, is the way I get things done and think.

14. What is it that you fear in life? Why? How does this fear manifest to you both in how you think and how you act?

I fear not knowing enough. All my life, I've been driven by it. We tend to be driven by what we fear, to overcome it so If we want to improve, do we have to fear failure and if we do not fear failure, does that mean we will not improve?
I also fear having zero sense of myself. Especially since the world demands you to give them everything you have, all your knowledge and all your self. I think its clear how it affects my thinking pattern.

15. What is it that you desire in life? What do you strive to achieve? Why? Where do you think these drives and desires stem from or are inspired by?

I am unsure, I only know that I wish to reach the source, the one truth that could be used universally to explain everything. That is a beautiful concept, but I am somewhat driven to find it, scientifically. I would feel a lot more confident once I know it, that would be assured, other than that, I am unsure.
There are many possibilities, but I have yet to evaluate them and pick the one I wish to pursue. I have been running away from that in a sense.
However that web of knowledge that I attain WILL be used to create something external. Eventually, I will make use of it to build or create a system of some sort and implement it somewhere in the real world, I just have yet to find out what it is, got lost in philosophical loops along the way. Usually when Implementing or working on an Idea I would work in a logical and highly organised manner, I have to be in full control of the project, of everything related to the project. When I'm not implementing anything, I'm oblivious to the state of my surroundings.

16. a) What activities energize you most? b) What activities drain you most? Why?

My alone time where I'm undisturbed by anyone, free to do my own research or think my own thoughts in private, with no intrusions. Reading science, understanding surreal stories, seeking answers in philosophy. I set some goals and formulate an internal plan to reach them. The planning however, is entirely internal.

As for draining activity, socialising is the most draining, followed by going out. I am usually forced to do those and no one would enjoy what they were being forced to do.

17. Why do you want to know your type? What type do you think you are? Why this/these type(s)? Is there a type that appeals to you, to your self-perception, that you would like to be? Why? If you know your enneagram, please post this here. If you have done any online function tests such as the Keys2Cognition, it helps if you post these results here as well.

I am just curious on what I am. I don't have any type bias. I seek an honest logical response and that would be more than enough. I wish to know both MBTI and enneagram. I got ILI for socionics, if its somehow correlated. Online tests usually label me a 5 or 4 enneagram wise. I once got an 8 too. As for MBTI, its usually INTJ, but I do not think that is right. I score high on Ni but I could be Ne aux and confuse the Ni with Ti.
I should state though that while growing up, my cognitive functions did fit the INFJ zone before NT, but somehow logic kicked in and I have been greatly denying that possibility. I really do not think I am an NF. I don't think anyone can be stuck in a Ni Ti Loop for a decade. I do sense the presence of Fi though, but I am unsure if it really is Fi or Ti. If I was Ti dom, I think I would be able to differentiate them, but I know a Ti dom, and there are obvious differences between myself and him. I get slightly annoyed when working with him on projects possible due to Ne, way to many possibilities, I'd usually just pick the one I find most interesting or the one that stands out and pursue it rather than propose multiple half complete ideas to take into consideration. Only implement a complete idea. The descriptions just show me how closely related and shallow the type descriptions are. The greyscale isn't mentioned.

18. Finally, is there something else you find to be of importance you want to add about yourself you think might be of relevance when helping to type you?

You sound to me like a neurotic (in Big Five terms) INTP, but INTJ would be my second choice.

As the author, I may be a tad biased, but I suspect you'll find quite a lot of potentially useful type input in the 10-post series at Typology Central that starts here, which includes separate sections on each of the four MBTI dimensions, a link to roundups of online profiles for each of the 16 types, a brief intro to the Big Five neuroticism dimension, and a contrarian discussion of that perennial puzzler, "can I haz INTx?"

You described some confusion about your cognitive functions. Well, don't feel bad. Dario Nardi's one of the leading cognitive functions guys (as you may know), and his test is arguably the most-linked-to cognitive functions test but, as further discussed in the spoiler in this PerC post, INTJs typically get high Te scores and high Ti scores (with Te not substantially favored over Ti), when they take Nardi's test. They also tend to get high Ni scores and high Ne scores (with Ni not substantially favored over Ne). And INFJs often get Fi scores that are as high or higher than their Fe scores. And all the IN types tend to relate pretty strongly to Ti. And so on.

As I understand it, there has never been a cognitive functions test where the results come anywhere close to lining up with the Harold Grant model expectations, where INTJs are supposedly Ni-Te-Fi-Se and INTPs are supposedly Ti-Ne-Si-Fe and FYI, that's a function model that's inconsistent with Jung, inconsistent with Myers, has no respectable body of evidence behind it, and has never been endorsed by the official MBTI folks.

I've been involved in forum "type me" exercises for seven years now, and they often include people posting their results from a variety of tests, some dichotomy-based and some function-based. And that experience has led me to conclude that, assuming someone has reasonably well-defined preferences, they're more likely to correctly type themselves using dichotomy-based tests than tests (or analysis) based on the functions. And if they've got one or more preferences that are in or near the middle, I think dichotomy-based tests are more likely to correctly indicate that situation as well.

The official MBTI is the only test that has a lot of psychometric support behind it, and if you're interested, here's a link to an online copy. I'd be curious to see your scores.

And in case you're up for taking it and are interested in some guidance with respect to the proper "frame of mind," here's what the MBTI Manual says:
Some people have trouble finding the correct frame of mind for answering the MBTI. When reporting the results to some people, they say they reported their "work self," "school self," "ideal self," or some other self they now consider atypical. The frame of reference desired in respondents is what has been termed the "shoes-off self." The "shoes-off self" fosters an attitude in which one functions naturally, smoothly, and effortlessly, and in which one is not going "against one's grain." The function of the MBTI is to provide the first step toward understanding one's natural preferences.
As a final note, the problems with the functions don't begin and end with the Harold Grant function stack. I think the faux-Jungian "cognitive functions" were rightly characterized in 2009 by James Reynierse, as part of a series of studies published in the official MBTI journal as a "category mistake," and if you want to read more about the relationship between the dichotomies and the functions, the place of the functions in the MBTI's history, the tremendous gap between the dichotomies and the functions in terms of scientific respectability, and the bogosity of the Grant function stack, you can find a lot of potentially eye-opening discussion in this PerC post and the posts it links to.
