Is there anyone who did NOT initially mishear the lyrics to Purple Haze?

I've had a hearing impairement since I was a young child. I mishear things ALL the time.

Currently my friends are celebrating my mishearing of my room mate singing "Shorty got low" while sitting RIGHT BESIDE ME.

APPLE PIE MACHINES. lol.

Not a music lyric, but my friends were talking about a blue movie, and a scene that involved a fist, and Belladonna. What I heard was FIFTEEN DOLLAR DONUT.

I understand mishearing Purple Haze... but some lyrics are crystal clear, and yet people mishear them and butcher songs into incongruous, absurd messes. I blame shitty 128 kbps mp3's, and shitty laptop speakers...

Sometimes I wonder if I understand english better than native speakers because I am not subjectively limited by a particular accent or dialect, therefore forced to try harder.

I think my favourite misheard lyric I found on that site is this:

"Slow motion Walter, the fire engine guy"

original lyric: "Smoke on the water, the fire in the sky"

(whenever I hear that song now, I think of those misheard lyrics. I think Slow Motion Walter would just be a really cool nickname and a song about him would have been interesting to hear)

One of my own:

Original lyric: "Love me while you can, before I'm a dead old man"

I misheard as

"Love me while you can, four-eyed little man"

I didn't realise that the Purple Haze mistake was so common until I had an argument with my best friend about it and had to look it up on the internet. Only since being told about it can I hear 'kiss this guy' before I always just heard the correct lyrics.
