We all benefit when your brain farts.

I've learned more about myself from your posts than I have from any "self-help" book.

thanks for making my point! (oh! excuse me, hope that one doesn't stink)

I have proof that IQ doesn't really mean intelligence.

George Bush's IQ is apparently 125. That's above average. *Shudders*

*poof!*

Wha? who?...

Oh, ok. I think arrogance is a defense mechanism, and like any defense mechanism, statements and actions are not dictated by the actual feelings of the individual. Growing up devalued by our environment forces us to latch onto any source of positive feedback and make it a central part of how we relate in the viscous game of dominance we know as socializing.

Our Achilles heel is that we often grow up with only our analytical abilities being praised, and so we must become the ultimate analysts in order to accomplish anything in the outside world with regards to other people. I don't think we are very good at shaking our apparent arrogance until we learn to independently value ourselves or our environment catches on to our other positive traits, providing us an "out" in our spiral of self-flagellation.

Its ironic that most of us have little trouble respecting the opinions of anyone who gives an honest and humble effort in their analysis, even if it isn't their strength.

Was that what you were asking for?

This is true, hence the tendency for nerds to be portrayed as intellectually arrogant. They embrace their advantages and maximize them to compensate for their flaws. However, they become very confident with their advantages, expecting them to be at the top of their 'speciality' or 'profession'. The reason for this is due to they are typically very good at their advantages.
When a new person arrives that they deem as superior, they become defensive to ensure that their ego is maintained. Perhaps thinking arrogantly to avoid acceptance that their ability/skill is surpassed (self-denial through action or thought). The superior person may jeoprodize their positive thoughts on their advantage in life, leading them to think of its quality less. Their only positive aspect (or some) will be degraded and their ego as a whole will decline with this.
If you are prettier than 98% of the females in your area, you will generally be successful with males in the area on an appearance basis (if the males focus on appearance, that is). If you suddenly throw 100 prettier females into her area's population, her percentile will decrease and she will become very insecure, possibly jealous. She will try take action for ego and status to be protected. Perhaps she will think in terms of the past when she was one of the prettiest (not at all now) and apply it to the present foolishly.

Hmmmm Interesting comments above. Might I suggest that this forum, and perhaps this thread provides some good examples of that which you speak of...(?)

I have been a member of this forum for 6 weeks now, and I am just now beginning to drop a few of my shields. I entered this arena with the attitude that I would be attacked.
It is sad to review and to realized how horribly that attitude can 'color' even the most innocuous replies.

I have come to the conclusion, that for myself, being defensive, in a form of intellectual laziness, It seems to simply maintain the mental Status quo, looking at all change/input as threat and not perhaps an opportunity of Growth that encompasses the POVs of Others...

I`ve only taken online (not official) IQ tests. My scores have ranged from above average to genius depending on the type of questions (more knowledge type questions = lower score for me or more problem solving = higher score).

They`re usually pretty high, which I attribute to my personality type more than intelligence.

I think there are many smart people on this forum, definitely more so than myself. If not, I wouldn`t be here as there`d be nothing to learn! :)

Online IQ tests are invlid, in my opinion, for measuring true IQ (psychological definition). The authentic IQ tests assess various areas of your mental capacity (abstract, verbal and spatial reasoning). The online ones I have seen are too short and limited in the areas that they gauge to be accurate. Yes, a few have sections for each area of intelligence, yet they are not long nor intricite. There may be some online test that are very similar to the WAIS and SB5 IQ tests. These ones will have a higher accuracy, I think.

A psychologist should certaintly publish an official IQ test online to examine a vast number of the internet population's IQ. It would rank everyone's result according to percentile. The results (mean of internet, nations, gender and education level) would be fascinating for them. This might have been done and I have missed it.

see the diagram for IQ assessments for hands-on learning, written materials and gathering own information.

Of special interest to writers gauging the audience and readers.
The race statistics are not important in my book.

This thread needs to be left to die with the intelligence within it.

Which types are Dangerous ?

I vote for the ESFPs...

Beware of Panther (ESFP) Hits! These lot are the most dangerous. Bob the Builder types.

Snakebite (ENTP) is dangerous to some types but not to INTPs. Eagles (INTP) are very dangerous at breaking point, but very few reach this level unless they are hunted down. Simply cannot be bothered.

On second thought, make that ESFJs

*waits to see the gasps and rants of all incoming INTPs*
