Any of those pricks could have cut the string. Poseidon was a bit cringe-worthy too. Love the music though.

I find the singer obnoxious. There's something that grates on me about covering a song that was so heavily written in the first person. It's the original artist's ego trip about rap/hiphop - to then copy it verbatim in a different genre when all the reference are now irrelevant is kinda strange. This all said, the artists are very talented, and I really enjoy the style despite it feeling forced.

Ed Sheeran... DON'T JUDGE ME!

*cowers*

I've just discovered him recently and found him surprisingly good when I actually started listening (and ignoring how annoyingly he sounds like Justin Timberlake). In a ballady way. Don't expect anything groundbreaking.

Maybe I relate to him cos he's got titles like "I'm A Mess". :p

He also did this nice one from The Hobbit - I find it really beautiful in a simple way (including the lyrics):

There's a lot of crap he's made but there's some good stuff too.

No one will listen to these. :(

Another one to ignore:

Fucking addicted to songs I hate atm. No idea why. I even had fun listening to some terrible song by Drake because the video was so relentlessly tasteless. Didn't even know who the fuck Drake was, except that he was in that other video by Nikki Minaj where she goes on and on about her bum. Oh, and Amanda Bynes drunkenly tweeted about him once during her breakdown! I wish I didn't know this stuff.

I will not ignore this.

I work in a big retail store where they play lots of pop music, including this partic song. they often get stuck in my head, but honestly most of the songs are so inoffensive and unremarkable (the Weeknd especially) that I don't mind when they become earworm. but I will not let you badmouth Drake. "Hotline Bling" is wonderful.

they play this one often:

Yes! Hotline Bling is the one I watched! Absofuckinglutely hilarious, I loved it.

Sadly, I didn't care for the song you linked. Something about the beat was so dead, so straight, I felt I was being suffocated. :(

I'll probably grow to like it in time though. :)

One pianist recounted a friend saying hearing this piece made him feel an overwhelming urge to commit suicide - it feels like depression captured musically (though there's a bit of that in most Rach). I actually slightly prefer Idil Biret's version, but she takes the middle section at a slower speed than most, and Ashkenazy's is an easier introduction (better sound quality too). To me though Biret's tempo, while less pretty and immediately impressive, captures the discomfort of depression a lot better - the agony of sitting with shitty feeling after shitty feeling as each stretches on interminably, the periods of emptiness as you wait for the next discordant crash while the last reverberates around you. Agitation (speed) is easy; sitting with the discomfort is much tougher. Broken flow - ugly but truthful.

This is a very nice recording though. Also I think my preference is subjective bullshit - probably just partial to Biret cos I heard her first.
