Spoilers plz ppl.

I'm not sure chrome or firefox recognizes spoilers anymore (or if they ever did ). I've run tests with one page embedding the links and the other page embedding with spoilers and both pages take the same amount of time to load with nearly equal ram usage.

The idea is to not flood the page with a wall of embed images to make it easier to navigate the thread, even if spoilers don't indeed save loading bandwidth.

I'm not going to enforce it but it seems reasonable to either embed 1 piece without spoilers, or multiple and provide spoiled vids under the title like so:

FF II Rebel Army Theme (insert genre) (insert author) (insert comment) (etc.)

This way the potential viewer has the most information without sacrificing their ease of finding other things.

Yeah I'm feeling it rn, going through their catalog atm. Anything you'd recommend?

Oh, I actually haven't heard of these guys before and my only real exposure to vaporwave is by osmosis through my friends, so I'm not really equipped to give recommendations haha.

This isn't quite the same sound, but a friend turned me on to this album which is kind of vaporwavey.

That's fine, isn't the genre like semi-serious? I find it entertaining just checking out the cover art.

This one is cool too, or I'm in the right mood for it anyway. Thanks. :)

Yeah, I think there's a definite vibe of being tongue-in-cheek around the whole vaporwave aesthetic. It's kind of hard to explain since it seems like it's partially an ironic movement that's only popular "for the meme" but it also seems like there's an undercurrent of genuine care where it's being taken seriously as an art form so it just has this dualistic nature of being a self-aware joke but also being it's own serious genre.

Edit: glad you like it though :) a friend showed it to me when we were really drunk/high and it put me in this awesomely relaxed mood. I think the whole "each song is an aisle of a grocery store" aspect is kind of rad, too.

I like the description of vaporwave that it's a critique of the false promises of capitalism, which does come through in the actual old-fashioned sounds and then the nostalgic hope listeners feel if they were raised on the culture of the late 80s and early 90s. In that sense it has legitimacy to me even if it is ironic as we're just seeing the cycle of a generation maturing. Certainly a good time to be alive to see this type of stuff. :)

Re: the album, 16:00 and beyond does it for me.

Since you're also from CA I feel it important to mention the LA hiphop group People Under The Stairs which you might already know, their whole career was about similarly chill songs like San Francisco Knights and The Strand. The producer even dedicated a whole album to those old consumerism jingles. Worth a listen if it sounds interesting.

The intoxicating vocalizations on this one :). I've just listened and they're both great Puffy. It feels like Corea's music is carrying the listener, as in the energetic imaginative playing and the childlike sound of the other song.

If we can play for a little while longer :p
