Heylo all,

In my current sleep deprived stupor it seems like a good idea to join this forum and have nosey as to what other INTPs are like just to be sure I really am one.

I'm a medical student (out of choice) *shock-horror* and seen as quite a few of the INTP career profiles claim that the caring professions are not suited to INTPs it fed the doubt of me being INTPish further. I always want to type Impish for some reason...

Something that intimidated me was the claim on the welcome thread that this place is more of a "hardcore" INTP forum compared to others, what exactly does that mean? O_o.

And to finish with I like playing squash every other Tuesday and long walks on the beach at sunset *sigh*

What that means is that this forum is relatively untouched by people who mistyped themselves as INTP by this kind of reasoning: INTPs are awesome judging from the descriptions, I'm awesome, therefore I must be INTP.

Career is not a great indicator of MBTI type (with the exception that almost all philosophy professors are INTP ;)). Consider your behavior and the way you think instead.

Do you study medicine to "help people"?
Or to have deeper understanding of the "human machine"?

I suppose my choice was mainly influenced more by the second goal, but the reason I didn't do something like biochem or biomed which go way more indepth into human physiological systems was because being holed up in a lab day in day out was not something I could see myself doing.

I wouldn't call myself a social butterfly but I do feel suffocated if I'm with the same people continuously.

I've done a few of these MBTI quizzes but I feel I might have "conditioned" myself to answer in a certain way.

I'm definitley NT but when it comes to social situations the INTP type is protrayed as someone not really in tune with other people's feelings which I think I am, to a point where I know exactly what some friends/relatives will say and how they will say it.

Hi there.

Imagine if all the sleep deprived souls of this world went to a great big waiting room where they just sat around waiting to sleep while in the 'real' world their bodies rushed around on autopilot. Imagine the conversations. "Ere, wot's yours doin' now?" "Fixin' coffee an' crammin' Liebniz". "It's 4am in my time zone - she don't ever sleep!" Or perhaps they'd play cards? Or play I Spy?

Welcome.
