Just curious, maybe I'm missing out on some great things.

It could be from when you're waiting for a dentist appointment, to being on a train. I tend to daydream way too often to the point where it's a fault (but I'd rather blame the people or school for being so boring).

I've noticed one of my friends usually go on imgur, or reddit, read. While other people usually just go on the braindead apps or websites such as tinder, snapchat, gossip, or other petty things.

Is there like an interesting app that one of you uses that explores the depths of the universe and says a bunch of interesting facts; or about life.

What do you guys do (even if it's really small) to pass waiting time (like on a train or bus) or hobby.

I usually listen to music. I'm really into music, whether it be 80s music, jazz, classical, polka, whatever. The only genre I dislike is country and most dubstep type stuff. I don't judge people by musical taste. Off topic.

If I'm bored at home I take a few light weights and do some small workouts while listening to music.

I usually carry a book or two in my backpack and I always take my backpack with me, even when I go to the party (especially! the number of times reading a book was more interesting than anything else at a party is very high). If I don't have much else to do I sit anywhere and start reading or browsing the net on my phone.

Sometimes when I'm bored I call someone or do important calls that I didn't have the motivation to do normally. I have unlimited calls to a few interesting people and we are used to discussing random stuff on skype or irl so it's not much different.

I haven't read much since 10th grade -I'm a freshman in college now-. I remember I go 5 days straight 9+ hours a day reading a series of a book (Percy jackson series, warriors).

In High School I liked Black Boy, and another I forgot the name about. I finished fight club 2 (since I enjoed fight club a lot), do you have any suggestions?

I don't know your preferences so I can point you wherever. You could start with Divine Comedy and Goethe's Faust from classic fiction, Herbert's Dune series or Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep from sci-fi, The Magic Mountain or Catch-22 from classic novels.

I get a couple dozen pieces of paper, write "the time" on it and start handing them out.

"Hello ma'am sorry to disturb you, I am trying to pass the time. Would you help me?"

Listen to music, read (books, news, social feed, posts), research, post, fantasise... There's always something to do... I try to be productive in my procrastination.

I'm always looking for new stuff to get bored with

Pretty much this. The amount of hobbies I pickedup in the last 2-3 years of my life is insane. I did boxing, did skateboarding, did freeboarding, guitar, piano, learned japanese, watched movies, read dozens of books, got really good at Counter Strike, lost parts of my soul playing RPGs, etc...
Most commonly I either watch movies or play games but almost always have a beer to make it pass faster and make myself think that I enjoy it more.

I read. I read alot. I listen to music. Mostly violin music. I take up skills/hobbies such as painting, drawing, calligraphy, but it all ends up in a corner. So I'd say I sit here and read and watch movies. Them two are my constants. Boring huh?:p

Recently I watch Dexter or try to meditate in my spare time.
I guess I'd try to learn things and be productive all the time if I had the energy.

Honestly it feels like time passes me by so quickly, I don't get the chance to do anything :( on the rare days when i actually have time and no work to do, i watch films or read or go out idk

Do you really read books at parties? Doesn't that feel really awkward? :P (and also look kinda smug?)

Depends, I usually hide in a corner, talk to a friend and in the absence of both and assuming I have to stay on a party for some bizarre reason I will be reading a book and possibly hang around the entrance, or take a walk outside and come back when they're closing.

It doesn't feel awkward, it would feel awkward to participate in it.

Parties for me are enjoyable when free to explore and interact at as I please. It's makes me feel like I'm in a simulation eg The Sims. I especially like to go outside of the party to observe through windows.

This kind of behavior has led to lots of people thinking that I don't want to be around them. That's not exactly true. I don't mind being around them but I don't want to interact with them. If someone is horrible at aimless small talk then the situation becomes stilted and draining for everyone involved. Thus, if they talk to me, the whole situation becomes less interesting because I am unskilled at this style of conversation.

It's much more interesting to study two people skilled at small talk even if it is just seemingly banal chatter. You are watching two people who are "seeing" each other clearly and thus rendering a clear enough image to mutually let their guards down. Being horrible at small talk is akin to looking at something through an broken microscope. No one is seeing clearly and thus everyone has to squint, as it were. This drains everyone's energy and thus is not practical. People should not be offended by it.

It's 2016. Where is your smart phone?

He threw it into the river when he saw you and baron arguing over Norway and Alberta's oil production.

I usually always have something I'm interested in, so I'll read up on it. Or there are a few sites I'll read up on like this site LOL.

This.

In that little free time, I try to maintain a social life or explore the city or improve myself.

I don't have a cell phone either.

I often have to resort to day-dreaming where I'll be trying to mentally create, design, problem solve, or organize something. Eventually, I learned it's a lot better with a cheap notebook and hence I filled one trying to work with my ideas and doodles.

The only bad thing about it is the people that could pass by with one in a few getting nosy.
