I've known him for 2 and a bit years – I have a fairly clear idea of his type but I’m interested to see what others think!

Generally quietly spoken and reserved in public - rarely says a lot in conversation. Has never offsided anyone or got involved in conflict (very un-confrontational in general) – he gets along with pretty much everyone without any major issues (except for one of his young brother who takes some of his teasing jokes badly) – he is very easy to get along with for most, quite friendly and approachable, but isn’t outgoing and doesn’t go out much or have any interest in most big social gatherings like clubs, pubs or parties – he says he only likes going out when there is some kind of activity involved like eating a new cuisine, going to the movies, playing or watching sports, shooting pool, arcade, bowling, swimming etc. He is generally bad at keeping in contact with friends and often drifts apart unless they take initiative to stay in contact with him. He can show a playful sense of humour often (mostly in private or when relaxed) – he likes mimicking others mannerisms and voices/ role playing, puns/pulling out random references, as well as some dry wit.

He scans the environment a lot when outside. He also picks up upon and compares people that look, sound or behave like one another quite often.

He got good grades at school and is studying Finance and Economics at university (after originally planning to do Medicine – but didn’t get a high enough score in one of the secondary tests). His main interests are fitness, health/nutrition, sports (playing, watching, fantasy sports and some video games - he also likes sports analysis and has had a particularly strong interest in talent scouting). More recently has got very into psychology and MBTI and has been reading about it a lot lately. He often has passing interests that consume him for a short time then he gets bored i.e. was really into music mixing for a short period of time, but doesn’t do it anymore.

He spends quite a bit of free time on the computer and a few internet forums related to his interests and has also set up a number of blogs and websites and written articles for others on some of his interests mentioned. He watches a reasonable amount of TV - mainly sitcoms and some sports.

He generally doesn’t tell you what he thinks unless you draw it out of him. He isn’t strongly politically opinionated and doesn’t have any interest in political debate. He says he views marriage as a business contract and doesn’t want to get married or have kids unless he is in a better financial position than his partner if it ends. He also said he wants to only work a job as long as he needs to and wants to create enough passive income to live off and be able to do whatever he pleases.

He occasionally draws up plans/goals but rarely follows them to the T and is normally a big procrastinator with work. He’s not very organised and can be quite forgetful at times.

He sounds a lot like me. He's either INTP or INFJ. Perhaps more INTP because of his views on marriage, but that could be caused by upbringing too. It's nearly impossible to really tell, though. Having a sample of some of his personal writing would help. If you had a youtube video, Adymus could type him for you.

Sounds like IxTP. I am not very good at N vs. S in real time. From the information you gave, I'd be more likely to say S. But I'm no pro or anything.

He could be an INFP, sounds a bit like my INFP friends.

the introverted and perceiving dimensions seem pretty cemented. judgment call: intuitive because of proclivity to somewhat randomly compare people and places to one another, being into psychology and mbti, and nonconformist views towards marriage and the utility of a vocation - but then again, he doesnt read and he watches sports and sitcoms! the feeling/thinking dimension is too difficult to ascertain, you seem to suggest feeling with that comment on nonconfrontational attitude, so...infp?
